who are doing pre-poo or pre conditoner wash hot oil treatments....are you wetting your hair first and then putting the oil on or do you just apply it to dry hair? Do you think that one method is better than the other? :perplexed

I just made the decision to pre poo on dry hair only.

I tried doing it on damp hair, and for some reason I lost more hair than normal.

I, generally, prepoo w. Amla Oil on dry hair overnight covered w. a conditioner cap & satin scarf. When I wake up in the morning, my hair is drenched w. Amla Oil and gives the appearance of wet hair.

I do oil/conditioner treatments on dry hair. I've tried them on wet hair and it doesn't work out as well for me.

Wow. So the overwhelming response seems to be to do it on dry hair. I don't usually do pre-poo treatments, but I am thinking about doing one with oil to get some extra moisture to my ends.

How long do you guys let it stay on? do you use heat with it?

Carlie,
about how much alma oil do u use as your prepoo? I am looking into starting to use this bc anyone Ive known who used it has very nice looking hair. I think it may be one of the keys bc its the only variance I can tell from my own regimen. isnt is supposed to be great for the hair? also, do u warm the oil or just put it on straight from the bottle?

I rarely do pretreatments these days bc Im so busy, but when I did I did them on dry hair. if u think of it, when your hair is wet it is holding all that water, and although its cuticles are open and able to get whatever treatment u are using, it is mostly filled with water. I feel that by doing pretreatments on dry hair and deep conditionings on damp hair....you are covering all bases as far as the different ways your hair can receive moisture. I also think that pretreatments on dry hair can counteract the stripping effects of some shampoos...since u are removing more of the oil u just applied than its natural oils.

Hi Leslie!

I have my Amla Oil in an applicator bottle. What I do is just oil my scalp with it. Then I'll massage it into my scalp. Next I'll comb through my hair w. my KCutter, then fingercomb. This oil basically spreads through the hair on it's own though and a little really does go a long way. I don't heat the oil. I like to leave on overnight, when possible, and use my own body heat. Like I said earlier, when used overnight, the next morning...my hair is drenched from root to tip w. Amla. :)

I normally do my pre-poo treatment on my dry hair. Yesterday when I did my husbands hair he complained about that (he's such a baby). So I let him shampoo his hair first, then I did the treatment on his wet hair.
