I'm considering switching to self-relaxing instead of going to salons.
I got a salon relaxer earlier this week and 5 days later, I still have several scabs on my scalp from relaxer burns around my edges. The stylist also pulled the relaxer all the way through my hair to only a half-inch away from my ends, even after I'd told her I only wanted it on the roots. (My hair is collar-bone length.)
So to avoid things like this, I'd rather start doing my own relaxers. I've never applied a relaxer to my own hair before and am concerned about how I'd be able to tell where the new growth stops in the back, without being able to see that area. Any tips on that?
