I used to use jane carter solutions' twist & lock but the scent was really strong to me so I stopped. However, I do recommend the product because it gives the right amount of hold and is very moisturizing. It is not a gel. It can be used without twists or locks.

Now, if I ever do twists again I will use IC gel or just plain aloe vera gel.

My twists stay together on their own, with no product. They stay even with repeated washings. So I have no problems keeping to two strands together. The problem comes when it's time to separate them. My hair naturally wants to loc. I put in product to keep my hair moisturized. When in twists, I spritz with water daily, and add conditioner to the ends every other day.

Hey ya'll this is gym's sister...

I am twisting my hair right now trying to get ready for early service... anyway this what I do every 2-3 days, I try to only use products that I would be willing to eat so I make most of my own products...

Wash [honey, molassas, baking soda, olive oil, castor oil]
Condition [AO honeysuckle rose, probably not very tasty, but still edible]
Rinse [water, vinegar, 3 drops of honey]
Rinse [lots of cool water]

I try to keep my hair as wet as possible, apply a drop of Giovanni Direct

Twisting allows my VERY DRY 4b to actually remain soft and I have very little breakage...

So I two strand my TWA with [shea butter, olive oil, avocado oil, castor oil, AOHR, Giovanni Direct] (melt the shea down slightly add oils and conditioners stir while cools; I whip it a bit to add bulk and to make it light when I apply)

I spray each section with water and apply cream to end only... and twist a way...

I tie down at night and freshen in the morning with water/glycerine mix and steam from shower

My twists are put together & maintained with daily rinsing & or co-washing my homemade cocoshealoe mix. I can keep them for about a week maximum before they begin to lock. :grin:I use my e/o blend on my scalp 2 X daily.
