for those interested... the november issue of allure mag. with catherine zeta jones on the cover has a section detailing 3 different, very simple, very chic buns. the instructions are very simple and easy to understand.

I looked at them today and they looked great. I noticed the buns were elegant and chic. It looks like smaller buns are the style or maybe anything goes. The article also mentioned that wearing a bun the conventional way doesn't suit all faces. It stated that trying something different like a side part or middle part or wisps hanging makes a big difference. I liked the French Twist example too, which I wear. Like the article mentioned, even if it isn't done to perfection, with hair not quite in place, it still looks good.
