No im not confused anymore I am just wondering which method and brand to use for my type 4a hair because I dont want to mess up. I just want a looser curl pattern. I heard if you smooth it it makes it straighter.
thats how i understood it as well

anyway i was gonna buy something this weekend for my hair cause these edges are out of control regardless what i put on it. the rest of my hair has s shaped curls and the edges look like cotton :nono:

i am not sure if i wanna do my whole head cause i am scared of loosing my curl pattern.

i figure i will do the edges and see what happens. technicall the only part of my hair that gives me the most trouble is the top part but it doesn't make sense to tex just that either

I want to texlax, because I'd love to be able to just wash n go without doing anything to get my hair to hang down.

I was natural, but texlaxed. My hair was too thick for me to do anything with it. When I washed it, I had almost 70% shrinkage, and I had to do a lot to get a style done. I have been texlaxed since May, and I feel like my hair is growing better, maybe due to less manipulation, and I can wash and not worry about detangling, banding, and then proceeding to do twists, I have too much hair to do that always.

I love my hair - I still retain the thickness, but now I can wash and rollerset and be done. And that is the main reason I texlaxed. I was spending too much time on my hair.

My pictures are in my Album, I have my natural pictures and now texlaxed as well as rollersets.

I used ORS first (almost died form the burning) and I have switched to Silk elements lye - Purely because this is the only lye relaxer I have used that hasn't burn the hell out of my scalp on contact. No lye relaxers are fine on my scalp, but my hair doesn't like it, and silk elements gives me best of the both, good on my scalp and hair

I made the decision based on all the knots and tangling. I was ok with the shrinkage (I'd found a way around that), but the knots were getting crazy. I just let the relaxer stay on for about five minutes (enough to loosen some of the curl) and it's been A WHOLE LOT more manageable and I don't have nearly the knots and tangles I once did. I'm very happy with my decision. And, since I didn't complete straighten it, I still have my curl, so I still have the option to go back and forth between straight and curly.
