why do you place your hair up all the time? If I had the length of most on this forum I would leave my hair down so the entire world could see the time and effort I spent in growing my hair. While I am not trying to start any controversy I am just curious.

Everybody does what is best for them and what gives them positive results as far as keeping their hair protected, healthy and growing.
I am one who does not wear her hair up. I wear hair out every single day.

Hi there. I don't really know why I like to wear my hair up... I know it's alot easier for me to deal with. I can't really do my own hair that well, unlike alot of the other ladies here. I suppose if i knew how to style it I would wear it down more often. Actually, today I'm wearing my hair down in 2 pigtails (think pochahontas) because I washed it and couldn't do a thing to it. I just think the updo's look better on me. If i wore my hair down, sure I would be flaunting it, but I'd also be worring about the wind blowing it out of place and brushing it constantly.

It takes too much time to make my hair look good down so I just wear it in a bun for convenience. Besides it's cold and if I want to wet my hair in the morning it will freeze outside. I know I should make more of an effort

i wear mine up b/c 1) it's easy for me to style it and 2) it protects my ends. When i do wear my hair down I usually have on a silk top. Also, im not really creative when it comes to hair styles so bunning it works best for me.

Like syvler and bree i wear my hair down everyday... ive never used a protective style. to me they require more manipulation than just wearing it down everyday. Also although buns are good to my ends, it can cause breakage.

I am actually self-conscious when wearing my hair down because everyone makes such a big deal. I like the attention but I can only handle it for about a day.

Bree your hair is gorgeous, wow!!! Has your hair always been that long??

thanks rabia! my hair's always been past shoulder length but above brastrap since being relaxed. thing is, it'd stay that length forever b/c my hairdresser was scissor happy. it wasnt until i joined the site and started doing it on my own that i got more length.

I'm not growing my hair for anyone else. I am growing my hair for me.

Plus, New Orleans has crazy weather so I just keep it up. If I wear it down, it's usually back to the bun the next day.

I wear my hair down just about everyday because I feel more feminine that way. When my hair is up I feel too casual and not as ladylike which is pretty silly but thats just the way I feel. I do,however, love wearing my hair in a nice long ponytail after a fresh relaxer because its really sleek and I love the way every strand just lays down perfectly.

I'm a person who likes different styles. So one week you'll see me with my hair down and straight and then the next couple of weeks I'll wear my hair curly, in buns, two braids etc.
I never like to wear my hair the same for a long time. But that's just me.

i alternate up for 2-3 days and down 2-3 days or like every other day. but when im really busy with school and work i tend to leave it up also i tend to get too much attention here at school people want to check if it is my hair and it gets annoyin or they ask why dont you leave it down more. well but in tha summer i get braids or clip it up b/c it gets really warm.plus i gain the majority of my length due to protective styles ex.braids, buns.

I usually put my hair up halfway through the day because it gets in the way and gets caught on stuff. I have a desk job so If my hair is down it gets caught on the chair and gets all messy, same thing happens in the car.

Ditto...except that, at one time I worked with kids and I had to keep it up...hands go all in your hair at a certain point of it . Now I'm part time at this place that requires your hair to be up away from your face if its touches your shoulders so I have no choice....

Plus I like variety and I keep it up for me, I don't really like it when people look at you as if you have a weave and almost wanna ask you if it is real...so I keep my hair up for myself and the health of it.

If I go out with friends, I'll wear it down...or if I'm at home somtimes.... it really depends on me and my mood

;)

i wear my hair down when it is straight in the winter but in the summer i put it up in a clip..so my neck can breath.Sometimes whoever im dating at the time is like take your hair down you look so much better.I look at them kind of stank thinking(omg men are so clueless sometimes as to what women have to go through) Its bad enough i have to tote this hair on my head in 90 degress sun beating on my head, but now they want me to look GOOD JUST FOR THEM
anyway when i have my hair in a braid out i always put it up.I think it just looks better.

I wear my hair up for two reasons: 1) supreme laziness, and 2) I mess with it when it's down, causing breakage. Oh, and in the summer here in Atlanta, it's just to hot on my neck! It usually gets put up, out of my way.

It just so happens that wearing up helps the ends a bit. However, I am going to try to use better up do methods for myself. Currently, I am doing a lot of ponytails, braided, loose; buns that begin as ponytails as well. Mostly I do this to air-dry to canopy smoothly. But, I think it is breaking my hair. So I think I will try to use more french twists, and clips. I think my twirl a bun is so pretty though! But I'm no good at making one without a ponytail to start it out.

My hair isn't very long (just past shoulder-length) but I wear it up because I work in a lab and 1.) it snags on my lab coat and 2.) in certain areas of the lab my hair has to be up. So, it's just easier to keep it up all day until I get home.
