How do you wash them? I was thinkin' 'bout covering my head with a stocking cap and washing them so they don't get frizzy. Can someone help me out? How soon should I wash them?
I have some pics that i put up a while ago w/my cornrows that were one month and bout 3 weeks old. It was not all fuzzy and all bushy and stuff. How i did it was
1)When i washed my hair(which i did once a week) and washed it in the shower that was the easiest because the rows go to the back anyway, so as i put the sham in my hair i did a gentle but a bit firm rubbing of my head the direction of the rows, i did NOT scrub nor did i go AGAINST the direction of my hair. Just kinda finger comb the hairthat way towards the direction of the rows. Back of your head you have to be gentle there too so you dont loosen the braids up too much. Be like that all over the head. If you are doing it over the sink yourself then its a bit hard to run ya fingers the direction of the rows so thats why its best to do it in the shower when u can but if unable to or so u can do it in the sink but as i said b4 b gentle when u rub it.
2)When i was done washing it i put a towel on my hair. After about maybe 15-1/2 or so i woulld take off the towel and while my hair is damp i would put some hair grease on(i've been told oil isnt good to put on braids cause it will trap dirt and u have lots of buildup and it can loosen the braids) in between the rows on my scalp and and around the edges also on the back too. It airdrys and im set to go. As i put the grease on my hair i go in the direction of my rows. I finger comb it in a sense down on the scalp in the direction of the rows NOT against it. When my head would itch sometimes i would scratch it in the direction of the rows to keep the hair in and down plus i would try not to be so hard and rough w/it. Also sleep on satin pillow case or/and satin or silk bonnet or scarf. hope this helps.
I used anti-breakage shampoo too and i have gotten alot of growth after i taken the braids out. I'm bout to go and put some back in when i get enough money :^D
