Re: Focusing on the deatails when we don't even have the basics down?

Interesting thread!
I would add to sleep in a satin scarf/bonnet at night instead of on a cotton pillowcase to prevent dryness and breakage.

Re: Focusing on the deatails when we don't even have the basics down?

I think you have it about right

clean stimulated scalp
products that cleanse and moisturize
healthy styling habits-limit fine toothed combs and direct heat

Re: Focusing on the deatails when we don't even have the basics down?

Less product, less processing, less manipulation... simpler is better and less is more!

Re: Focusing on the deatails when we don't even have the basics down?

The fundamentals of hair care are:

Take care of your body (internally)
Moisture
Low manipulation
Low/Little heat
Trimming when necessary

I follow these faithfully.

Re: Focusing on the deatails when we don't even have the basics down?

Moisture
Protein
Satin/Silk Scarf/Pillowcase Sleep Protection

Re: Focusing on the deatails when we don't even have the basics down?

Learning to read ingredient lists
Moisture and protein balance
Protecting ends

Conditioning according to your hair's needs at the moment (protein, moisture, pH balance, detangling etc.)
Minimize manipulation
Protecting your hair, especially the ends
Minimize chemical processing (stretching, going natural, being satisfied with natural hair color)
Minimize heat

  • Healthy diet - protein, calcium, vegetables
  • Gentle handling - treat hair like its silk
  • Balance of Moisture and Protein treatments
  • Silk scarf or silk pillowcase
  • Minimal use of heat and chemicals
