Float test for vitamins

Question:
How long is this test supposed to take to see if I vitamin is pure and effective? I just opened up 1 capsule each of PP MSM and GNC MSM. Emptied them on top of separate glasses of water. Both are floating. Accd to the GNC bottle it is 100% MSM. PP says it also contains a vegetable stearate.
How long should I wait?
I will NOT be happy if my MSMs aren't working, esp. since I bought 3 bottles of the PP brand.

I have no idea. I take msm in a powder form.
