... is that too much? I intend on beginning my wkly dom. wash and set - im beginning to tire of doing my own hair

. The routine would basically b after she removes the rollers, i have her blow out all my hair (root to tip) then i go home and flat iron it, would this be too much heat? Would it be damaging? I don't want to undo all the work i've done this past year.

TIA.

I don't see a problem w/flat ironing once a wk. Hmmm... would it be feasible for you to just have your roots blown out since you're concerned w/extra heat? Then flat iron at home?

I don't know about that...You are going to be getting heat while your under the dryer and when she blows it out and then you are going to put more heat when you get home with a flat iron? That might be too much even once a week.

Even the blow drying from root to tip might be too much...Why don't you let her rollerset and only blow the root when needed? Those blowdryers at the Dominican Salon's get really hot because of that attachment. If you go once a week and let her blow dry your whole head everytime in a few months your going to see the damage.

i was thinking about that too. I am use to just getting my roots blown out but last week, she blew out my entire head (b/c my hair wasn't completely dry) and when i flat ironed it i LOVEDDDD the results. I could just let her do the roots tho, then maybe every week or semi wkly flat iron it and c how that works.

Why don't you skip the blowdrying altogether? I love the way my hair looks when I flat iron after removing the rollers...no blowdrying is needed in my opinion.

i get my whole head blown out minus the roller set about every 2 wks. i dont think you would need to flat iron it once a week if you get your hair blown out once a week

I definately need my roots blown tho.

i dont have the ability to straighten them on my own (even with the flatiron).

CH- Be careful of the heat! I stupidly began blow drying and flat ironing my hair after several months of going without and in the end I had to cut off about 2 inches. If u are going to flat iron use one of those ceramic irons I've heard lots about and btw u don't have to blow dry that beautiful hair in order to flat iron!!!

I was thinking the same thing. I would definitely skip one or the other (blow dryer or flat iron). Roller set under dryer + blow dry + flat iron = a lot of heat

Thanks CK.
i've just been out of the salon loop for so long i dont know how to act

BTW, i have a ceramic iron (jilbere) althougth i believe it's just plated. I keep the dial b/t 10-15 (maybe a 12

) and i go over thick sections of hair (i part my hair in 4 sections from crown to bottom, then i part each section in 3s and go from there). It's not really a 'salon' flatironing job but it gets the job done

I too think that may be a little too much heat in one week. Since I've been going to the dominican salon every other week I know that the heat from the blowdryer is wayyyy to much and to go home and flat iron would be asking for trouble down the road. Maybe you can do a full blowout (root to tip) one week then the next week do a root blowout and flat iron.

That's y i run everything by you guys... the hair gurus

Thanks.
I'll just have her blow out my roots once a week and biwkly, i will flatiron it. I do like the curly look so maybe when she does the roots, i'll just pin curl it at nite.

yea, sounds like a plan.

I partially dry my hair under the hood dryer, then finish with a blowout. I then flat iron.

I have had no problems with this process on a weekly basis. In fact, I find that this process is less damaging to my hair than roller setting.

Girl, i do the same thing after everytime i get my hair done. I'm 100% natural and I don't see a problem with it. But it also depends on your hair condition, is it healthy or damaged. You just gotta make sure your hair can handle all that heat.
