So last week I had posted about wanting to do these and ended up doing them. I have more pics on my camera but just had one on my phone which is what I uploaded. I don’t usually post pics which is why I tried to block out the side of my face, sorry. Anyways I just wanted to show what it looked like. I used Bee Mine holding butter to twist and I put rod rollers over night to set it. It is now day 6 and my hair still looks decent, a bit fuzzy but that is mostly my fault cause I keep on scratching my scalp and playing with my hair.

Anyways I am in love with these twist cause they are so versatile and I can do any style with them. I will try to keep them in for at least 3 weeks to a month. It took me about 4 hours to do but that includes breaks so if I did it straight maybe 3.5 hours. So just wanted to share how it turned out. Thanks

I do need advice though on how to wash my hair while wearing these. I don’t want to mess it up but I also need to wash my scalp cause it has been itchy.

ETA: Also I realized while doing these I may have some form of alopecia on the sides because the spaces are so wide, maybe it is because of all the years of relaxing or something but I really want hair to start growing in those areas, hopefully my hair will thicken up by summer.

You can try water rinsing them and gently massage your scalp under the running water, apply some sea breeze to your scalp, oil your scalp, etc.

They look nice!

Looks good. I'm thinking about twisting mine back up by the end of the week as my flat ironed do reverted with the quickness.

I wash mine in the shower by putting my hair in 4 sections, and washing from root to tip using long, smooth strokes, no rubbing. My fingers spread apart to ensure that I reach the scalp.

When you say four sections do you twist it in 4 sections or braid it?

They look great. I plan to experiment with mini-twists as a PS this summer....I hope mine turn out as great as yours.

Did you stretch your hair before you put the twists in? If so, how so? How long is your hair stretched?

Sorry for all the questions lol.

Ask all the questions you want no problem. I lightly blowdried my hair on low heat, it was just straighted a little but was somewhat still damp in some areas cause i as lazy. I spray with a water based moisturizer daily so I get the shrinkage regardless but I don't mind it. Before I set my hair on the rods I sprayed it with UBH Dew spray so really my hair is not straight but not as much shrinkage as if I did it right out of the shower. Hope that makes sense. This is a perfect PS, it will also save me money cause I had to redo my braids every 8 weeks which cost me anywhere from $100 to $130. No more of that for a while.

They look very nice. I'm still trying to find a way to wash mine it twist cause my hair just gets fuzzy and tangled when I wash in twists.

Another member (Jenaboo I think? sp?) just posted a progress thread and she uses twists as her sole PS. She said she dilutes her shampoo, then uses the balls of her hands (so as to not disturb the twists too much) to clean her scalp with the shampoo. Then she just lets the diluted shampoo run through the length of her twists. I thought this was a great tip.

Hope this helps.

those look great!!
i wish i could wear those-my hair isn't dense enough and it always ends up looking scalpy....
