I use a gentle treatment, mild, no-lye relaxer by Johnson & Co. Although this actulaly does make the hair bone straight, its the mildest relaxer my salon has........
However, I roller set to dry....... and sleep with it pin-curled. It appears very full, voluminous, and bouncy this way.
For me, it didn't matter how mild the formula was, my hair is always very straight if not bone straight.
BUT, Sistaslick reminded me of a little trick:
Switching the order of steps at touch up time. Instead of neutralizing, I reconstruct immediatley after the relaxer has been rinsed out (as thoroughly as possible). I Leave it on for ten to fifteen minutes, rinse, and then neutralize.
My hair is bone straight, but has bounce, body, and feels stronger after this method.
I've been doing it for the past two touch ups. I don't think I could go back!
