I's Natural now!!! I said I is Natural NOW!! :yay:

Okay, so i've said i was going natural probably 5 times and could never do it. I started stretching longer and longer and longer to get used to my NG.

I had box braids in for 2 months and finished the takedown on those today. I had planned to either cut more hair or just get a relaxer and cut (bob). After washing & conditioning, I was just anxious to cut. So I cut a piece in the back, then felt my heart skip....swallowed...got the nerve and then cut the FRONT of my hair. (so i couldnt go back)

Last Relaxer: 8/28/10
Transitioned for 9 months & 1 day!!

Last length check was in March (Dominican Blow-out): That's when I noticed my relaxed hair was looking like ish to me. Don't know if it was the water or what but those ends were playin' with me.:

Had these box braids in for about 2 months:

Then had a long takedown process on the braids:

Got more scared when I saw how much hair was on the counter...and yes I am sentimental and will be saving the hair!

I still have to get rid of the stray, permed ends. Gotta get someone 2 help me with that. All I had in that TWA was some Darcy's Botanicals Curl Moisturizing Cream Leave-in.

Don't really know what to do with myself now...Might go out and purchase an afro pick...Learn as I go! I don't intend to go fool w/ products trying to "get my curls to pop" :look:

Finally sucked up and did it though!

Aww congrats!! It looks fab!

@ saving the hair...I did that too. Kept it on our dresser for the longest time. DH was like "Um, what are you going to do with that?" I was like "Keep it...got a problem with that???!" Haha.

wow, awesome!
I remember you and your bomb rollersets.
and go head and get you some ecostyler gel so you can get that curly definition. :giggle: :look:

Congrats!!!!
I'm still feeling good from my BC on May 6!!! And you will too!

beautiful. I see you said you're sentimental about this step in your journey, but believe me, the only regret you'll have is not doing it sooner.

This weekend must have been BC weekend. I BC'd yesterday after a 6 month transition.

It must be something with this 3 day weekend. Today started as a regular wash day and turned into the big chop. Did it with my husband's scissors in his clipper kit. :look: Will have to make an appointment at my cousin's salon to get rid of the rest of the straight ends.

Congrats to all making a big chop this weekend! :yay::yay::yay:

ETA: No, I did not keep the hair. I did go back and take a closer look at some of it though.

Congrats!!!! Awesome. I also did my own BC going on 2 years now. I can really say, I love my hair more now than when it was relaxed. You did a great job and your hair is beautiful. Every weekend I stay on Youtube to get fresh ideas on styling my natural hair.
Attached is my first picture after my BC, 2 years ago.

MizzBrown,
oh my goodness. you did it!!! Good for you!

I remember when you started growing it out from that bob and you had the progress pics in your siggy.

Your texture is exactly like mine! I haven't relaxed in over 3 years, but I don't really do much to my hair. I'll be following your journey.

Congratulations to you for doing the big chop yourself!!!
