yay! i finally got my yarn braids done. i love them! they're soft. they hold moisture well, have a cool matte finish, and they allow my hair to be pampered, protected and grow. and best of all i did them all by myself
i'll redo them every 2 months, off & on, during '07.
they are a staple of my hair growth regime. i give mad thanks to my cuz who taught me how to braid way back in the 90's. she needed help putting her extentions in, so she figured since i was a boy-who-was-nuts-about-hair already, i might as well help her hook up her do
i plan on using them this year to grow out my hair once more ... i'd be near waist length now if i didn't color it, texturixe it, and then shave it bald last year
tkj step away from the chemicals
i can always grow long hair, but then (usually around 15+ inches) i get bored & experimental, and end up jacking it up on a whim ... but you know what, it'll grow back. i just have to be patient & make better, healthier choices. i really do love my natural hair though. my hair does best when i keep it simple -- no chemicals, no heat, lots of cqc -- consistent, quality, care
braids really help me during the in-between stages, especially during those first two years -- when i'm anxious for long hair today ... so i'm gonna rock these shoulder-skimming-yarn-mugs now, even if i'll have to wait another two years to enjoy the real thing
