Figuring out hair type

Hello,

I joined the site recently and I've read different threads on hair care and many of the members talk about a particular hair type (ie. 3a, 4a, etc.) Where can I find information to help me determine my hair type? I have no idea about my hair type. Any help would be much appreciated!

I bought the book Andre Talks Hair. Only reason I bought the book because it was mentioned in Cathy Howse's. He has pictures of hair models with the typing system he uses, and describes the textures and what products works well. HTH
