I am so boiling mad...i went and set up an appointment with my regular hair stylist and she wants to claim that after me not going to her within 2 or 3 weeks that my hair has broke off and been damaged(within those 2 or 3 weeks all i did was put a relaxer in my hair, shampooed, conditioned my hair, and would curl it like once a week, but i dont think it was enough to even cause 2 or 3 weeks worth of damage)...first of all a little background of going to her...

incident #1: she suggested i get a partial relaxer..dangit if the partial relaxer by the time she finished came out to be the same amount that a all over relaxer wouldve costed....so this got me to thinking about putting my own my relaxer in because of how she acted like my money was just for picking off a tree...

incident #2: she wants to always add on extra and tell me i need a deep conditioner and then a trim...thats just more and more money for her....why are they like this why i ask....(well ive been deep conditioning my hair at home)

if they arent able to get you pay more than the amount then they suggest all these other things on top of it that they think i need....

im fed up with it...

then i went to another girl yesterday at Ulta to get my hair done....she tells me that my regular stylist when she did trim my hair looks like she used thinning shears(oh wow) my hair is already fine and thin thats the least i need to hear...

i just basically want to grow my hair out without all these problems and hearing all this....please tell me their is hope because everytime i turn around they are trying to take me to the bank and put a hole in my pocket...

can i just find a hair stylist that isnt trying to take everything out of my pockets...all im trying to do is grow my hair out..i dont have that much hair, time to spend and money to give away to them....

I feel ya but why don't you try to do everything yourself.. That way you do not have to depend on your trifling stylist.

I only let stylist in my hair that I really know. I mean like family. Because I do not have time for anyone to get mad at me about MY hair and how I like it done. Because I am going to tell them what to do and not to do. It's my hair and I'm paying! Lawd. lol I just don't understand it!

Another reason why I am a do it yourself with occassional help from a stylist friend because I cannot flat iron or trim my ends to save my life.

I love my weave stylist BUT why am I there for my 7:30 am appointment, her assistant doesn't get there until 8:30, the stylist gets there at 9:30 and I leave the salon at 1:30! I mean my hair is THE HOTTNESS! But dang that is my entire day man! I was ready to leave at 10! :lachen::lachen::lachen:

LondonDiva once said that she could screw her hair up by herself and I agree. I would just keeping doing it yourself at home. I still want to find a stylist here that I can trust and I have found some that are okay but I still do most of the work at home. The only time I will ever commit to a stylist full time is if I am in Atlanta and balisi can do my hair.

you were doing so well, i thought, before you cut your hair back off...it was almost this time last year that i joined and noticed your fotki because of the hairpieces you were wearing...why not start all over again growing it out? just don't give up this time...right?

Yea ive also thought about giving Balisi a call and finding her new location...im just really tired of hairstylists right now u know(no offense to all the wonderful and great hairstylist on the board and that are in the world....but it just gets crazy)

I know the feeling. I envy some of the ladies here that have great stylist. It might sound funny but I am taking in account LHCF members and positive stylist reviews when I go to pharm. school.

yea i think i had got my hair to the length it was when i was wearin the hair pieces last year(maybe it was a little longer)until she trimmed it....dont get me wrong i dont advocate towards trimming hair for faster growth....

but also i forgot to add that this same stylist after doing her trim states that she wants to trim my hair up to even out the sides...i already got it tapered in the back..and i have told her what my goals are....i want to grow my hair out at least in a bob...i dont mind the back being tapered but i eventually want to not have a short hairstyle anymore....my hair is so soft and fine and can barely hold any curls as it is now...so its hard to have a short cut with my texture of hair....

thank you im not...giving up...but i did do the same where i cut back on going to hair stylist and just started wearing hair pieces all the time...

If you do decide to go to another stylist, always get a recommendation from someone who has long hair. Then go to the salon to watch how this potential stylist handles each customer’s hair. If most of the customers have long, healthy hair, then this is the one you want to consider. Talk to these customers and ask questions.

Watch what tools and products he or she uses . . . how they use them. Now when it comes to the ends, some ends are badly damaged that just cutting off one inch will not do. I’ve seen damaged ends and sometimes in order to eliminate the damage, the stylist has to cut off two or three inches--but the customer may not see the damage, which is normally the case if the hair is not worn in protective styles, over relaxed, pressed too hard too often, over colored, dry shampoo that strips, braids, weaves, and handled roughly, etc. Most stylist do not like to do long hair, because its more work and they aren’t suppose to charge more, but some do.

To play it safe, you should do your own hair; then you will have peace of mind. That’s what I plan on doing when my stylist retires.

i know EXACTLY what u mean. since my original hairdresser relocated my hair's been getting wrecked for almost two years. finally, i recently found someone who knows how to handle my hair, keep healthy and do it for cheap! i'd suggesting reading, reading, reading the board and using the info u get from here to properly take care of UR hair by URSELF until you find that special stylist for urself. save ur hair, ur time and ur money honey :)
