I wanted to start a generic thread where people can post pics, etc for wedding related fashion questions, advice,...

I'll go first. I'm going to a summer wedding (end of May) in NC, indoors, 5:30pm. What do you think of this dress?

I want something different. I'm leaning towards an African print dress. I love the one in the 2nd pic. (I'm Jami, so I don't know the ins and outs of buying a wax print dress). I want to stand out but not too much. This dress would have to be custom made so I was thinking maybe taking off the sleeves and making it a tad longer. What say you? Is it wedding appropriate.

I think what you have in mind would be lovely. I was worried it would be too short but since you plan to make it longer, I say go for it. As for the material, try 'Ankara' or Java print/ Woodin, it's pretty popular these days.

I like the two from either side of the pic posted below, maybe because their both blue IDK. Like GraceV says, the dress above that pic maybe too short even though it's a summer wedding. Where are these dresses from OP? They're all gorgeous, so you can't go wrong.

I like the dress, but I am not sure about it for a wedding. I guess you could jazz it up with accessories, but for an evening wedding I would lean toward some of the other ones you posted. I do like the African print idea. Maybe if you did that "dress" strapless and a tad bit longer it would be more "wedding." That's just me.

But seriously, where did you find that dress...I do think I should own it for some other things :-)

I found a few designers in London. This particular girl's line is AyiKai Couture

I also liked some of the dresses from a different London designer, Miss Pouty Pout

I was concerned that it is an evening wedding and indoors, but I googled for some advice and every website said stick to cocktail attire. I liked the dress because it's unique, I didn't want anything that resembles a bridesmaid's dress. I've never seen the bride in a dress before, she's super low key and has worn pants and a shirt to a wedding before. I know attire won't matter too much to her, but I don't want to stick out in a bad way.

I definitely think it's too short as is... I haven't heard anything back from the designer, so I may have to go a different route anyway.

Always put your best foot forward, it's not your job to cover up for the bride if she can't dress, she needs to keep her game tight esp. if she's the bride. It's better to be slightly overdressed for an occasion than be underdressed.
