I waited 13 weeks before I had my last touchup over Thanksgiving break. I had so much new growth that my stylist struggled dealing with it (I have 4a/b hair). It got to the point where she asked twice whether I had put in braids during the 13 week period. When all was said and done my hair did come out the best she's ever seen it - her words. But I felt so bad that she had such a hard time applying the relaxer.

I am currently 7 weeks post relaxer. Is there any way to make my new growth easier to manage for my stylist, short of shortening the time between touchups? I trust my stylist and she genuinely cares for my hair.

Get a rollerset a week before, but do not blowdry or flatiron the roots.

I always airdry in a ponytail the wash before my relaxer so that my roots dry a little straighter so you can comb through them easier.

I've recently started basing my scalp before I go to the salon. I still allow my stylist to do it too.
