Do they act as proteins? I am not as protein sensitive as I thought I was, however I cannot leave them in. I am only able to use them as treatments or as a rinse out. I have used extracts in conditioners I love with no problem but the one I am currently eyeing has an abundance. There is a conditioner i used in the past that was just awful. At the time i did not know what went wrong. Just taking precaution. By the way, I am currently practicing a shampoo free regimen.

I'm not sure what you mean. I've only seen extract used as opposed to an essential oil or other plant based substance. The extract being the less potent form of it, made by diffusing the plant/nut versus squeezing it. ex. peppermint extract vs. peppermint oil.

Is that what you are referring to? If so, they are not proteins.

Thanks for replying. I have used a conditioner in the past that has no obvious proteins in the ingredient list however, it made my hair hard and tangly. I had know idea why it would react that way. That reaction only happens when I leave proteins in too long. I am now worried about conditioners with many extracts. Thank you for clarifying this for me. I guess it was some other cause.

Wen products are full of extracts and they are all moisturizing. Mostly all of my stuff has extracts and I only buy moisturizing stuff.hth
