I working out 4-5 days a week, and I'm wondering what would be a daily hairstyle beside the bun? Any suggestions??

I'm wondering the same.
I've promised myself that I will start at the gym in the next 2 mos, but I can't figure out how I'm going to maintain the cuteness when I'll be sweating out my blowout every 2 days :(

Hey you are not alone. :) I work out 5-6 days a week and depending if I have tournament sometimes I workout twice-a-day. So what is a good style to have for us exercise junkies? Also, I am not sure if it has been covered before (I am newbie so please be patient,) what is a good way to wear your hair when you do work-out so heavy?

Something tells me I should be joining some challenges, but for a newbie it is rather overwhelming for me for I am still becoming familiar with the board.

Have you tried a wash and go? or maybe a twistout, so when your scap sweats it would kind of blend in.

a wash n go is perfect for me because its fast and easy and my hair and scalp stay clean. I only shampoo once a week but I co wash most days of the week. Also like the above poster said, a twistout may work or a braidout. I personally cant maintain a straight style to save my life because Im in humid central FL and I sweat a lot in my scalp too....but u could try tying a scarf around the edges and putting yout hair up in a clip so the ends dont get wet, then take it down later after you are cooled off.

When I know I'm gonna workout in the a.m. and not have time to wash my hair I braid it up the night before and wear the braids to the gym. By the time I'm dressed my scalp has dried and I have a pretty decent braidout.

ETA: I pin the braids up so sweat doesn't run down them.

buns
cornrows
French braids
scarves
headbands

Those are the only styles I can think of. I used to go to the gym at night so I didn't care about how my hair looked for the rest of the day. Now, I go in the afternoon and all I do is wear a headband and when I go home I let the front of my hair get damp in the shower. Then I put avocado butter on it and a scarf to lay it down.

I workout about 4 days a week so I have to wash twice a week or my hair looks like hell. I wear a hair weave that can take the heat of the blow dryer and a flat iron. Now for my hair thats left out I let it air dry with a daily moisterizer and I use caruso rollers for the curl and a head band when I'm 5 weeks post or more.:D Hope this Helps :look: Oh and I do like the french braid look or even a side braid with a nice hair clip.

I tie my head up in the style I wear with a silk scraf before I start exercising. I don't take that scarf off until it's dry. I sweat a whole lot so that means if I exercise when I get home from work, the scarf doesn't come off almost until bed time. The naps stay smooth and I'm a rough 4b.

OR.... (I alternate the methods to get rid of some of the head sweat

I tie it up after exercising, but after I use a damp towels to remove the sweat from my hairline since I swear the dryness of the sweat makes it more fragile. then I apply some aloe vera gel with maybe some jojoba oil and brush (with the sofest boar bristle brush like one for babies) and tie it up.

This helps tremendously. HTH

This has been a question for me as well and one of the major reasons why I went natural. I think wash 'n go's have been a life saver for me. Sometimes I wear a bun or a ponytail, but I try to spice it up with cute earrings and/or a scarf.

This is something Ive been struggling w/. Since Im only 2 weeks post, I workout then when Im done I tie my hair down w/ a scarf and NTM silk touch then let it dry on its own. The next morning I just kinda finger it out and rock a headband. Its not the CUTEST but I look presentable by the head. When Im like 4 or so weeks post, Ill prolly do wash and go's.

Now in the winter I have NO clue what Ill be doing.

My wash 'n go simply consists of wetting my hair (or washing if it's that time of the week), detangling, applying leave-in and allowing it to airdry. After it's about 90% dry, I typically direct a little warm air from a blow dryer to the roots to stretch.

I've recently started wearing falls and I'm loving them! I have a curly one and a straight one. I only have a little section of my hair left out in front. I've french braided the rest of my hair which allows me to keep my ends moisturized and protected under the wig cap. I also have my ends wrapped in mini-baggies (squares of saran wrap) after moisturizing and sealing them. I remove the fall before my workout, wrap a satin scarf around my head and proceed to workout. After the workout, I let my hair air dry with a little moisturizing spray and put the fall back on after showering if I'm going somewhere afterwards. This is a very simple & effective method for me as I'm just starting my hair care journey.

There are pics of my fall styles in my hair album. I'm rocking the straight one now.

I remember someone posted about this recently . . . if you search for threads/posts by "gymfreak" you should be able to come up with her answer. I don't remember the details, but it was very thorough ;)

As for me, I tend to wear my hair in either a bun, ponytail, or rollerset curls everyday. When I go to the gym (in the evenings), I make sure I wear a headband to keep my edges flat and also wear any excess hair up so the ends don't get wet (just the roots). Just yesterday, I decided to start putting a little bit of olive oil on my hair after a workout so that I can take advantage of the moisture created by the sweat . . . this has helped my hair stay soft once it's dry. I usually just spritz my hair with water, moisturize and then start all over (with either a bun, ponytail, or rollerset) at the end of the day.
