I would like to use one to moisturize my hair regularly but I am worried about this. Can anyone recommend one that I can use on the regular without smelling like a homecooked meal? TIA.

My EVOO doesn't have a strong smell like a home-cooked meal. Mine is just Kroger brand.

All EVOO have that olive oil smell. I have used Bertolli in the past and I am using Hain now. The more expensive they are or if they are first cold pressed, the stronger that olive oil smell.

Well mine was cheap like $1.99 or it may have been less than that! Of course it has a smell but I don't smell it on my hair afterwards. Are you putting a whole lot on your hair or something???

Can you just use another oil? There are many good cheapies out there: Soybean (one of my favorites) Safflower, and then there are oil mixes like Hot 6 :D

You can get refined evoo (regular ol' light oil) too. I do understand that there are more "nutrients and other good things" in EVOO but maybe it will work just as well.

Also, are you using this evoo for pretreatments or after you've done your hair? If you're using it as a gloss, all you need is a couple of drops.

Maybe you can infuse your olive oil with rose petals or something that smells fresh.

Just some options :) hth.

Just get regular olive oil. It has no scent or opt for less expensive oils.

You might try Egyptian Magic (www.egyptianmagic.com). It's main ingrediant is olive oil along with royal jelly and bee pollen. I also use it as a night cream on my face.

The idea of adding a fragrant essential oil sounds like it might be a good option too.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am talking about using it as a daily moisturizer. I airdry my hair, so it would not be too heavy. I would probably use 2 teaspoons each day. I have heard that OO was the most moisturizing oil and that EVOO was better than OO. I have used OO as a compromise in the past but I wanted to move on to using EVOO.

As far as expensive oils, the ones that I used were $5 but they still smelled really olive oily to me and I wanted to make sure that that smell did not stay on me all day because people's noses can be really sensitive. Maybe I will go back to using light OO.
