Ok. I am a newbie and I just try my first practice rollerset. I put some oil and water in a spray bottle and srayed each section before rolling it. However, the ends came out frizzy. I think it was because I did not have enough oil on them. My question is "how are you ladies mixing the oil and water in the bottle? The oil in my mixture just floated to the top and I kept shaking the bottle so that it would mix better but I guess it did not work. am I missing something? Should I just apply the oil to my hair and use plain water in my spray bottle?

First of all, I never put oil in my setting lotion bottle. The oil goes directly on the hair. Second, assuming you really wet your hair before you put the roller in and stretched the roller to make sure all of your hair was flat on the roller, my experience is that your hair probably was not completely dry before you took the rollers out.

I mix a few drops of oil, water and a conditioner (Elucence) in a spray bottle. I wouldn't think the concoction would mix properly with just oil and water...:ohwell:

UPDATE:
There was a thread about that on here. I'll attempt to find it.

Thanks for the replies. Also I didn't use setting lotion I just use and empty spray bottle. I used a leave in first. I tried it this because I hear that alot of women on this board get good results and some say that they just use oil and water from a spray bottle. Maybe I misunderstood what they were saying. Smarty pants, I will make sure to pay attention to the points that you mentioned. Thanks PhoEnixX! I will try that next time!

I mix the leave-in(Lacio Lacio) and oil(Broccoli seed oil) in my hand and apply it to my hair in sections and just use water in the spray bottle to rewet the section im rolling to smooth on the roller.

Well---the conditioner I use (Elucence) can be utilized as a leave-in as well. What I use is mainly water and Elucence (40/60%) and just a few drops of olive or tea tree oil.

But I know that thread is here--because I got that idea from this board when I was trying to figure out what cowashing was in the first place! LOL

I just have no idea where it is...

I remember one! It was something like "what do you put in your spray bottle" or something like that. That where (i thought) alot of ladies were saying oil. (lol...I hate when I can't remember)

I have never heard of this kind of oil. Does it give you better results? Do you use it for more than just sets? Where did you get it from? (if you don't mind me asking)

Saturation is key to smooth ends. In my spray bottle is distilled water, a bit of jojoba oil and a few squirts of leave-in. I apply leave-in to my hair after washing and a bit of hair serum then go thru and carefully comb each section w/a rat tail comb and re-wet hair as needed. If using magnetic rollers, you can also spray the rollers with the mixture :yep:. I like my rollers wet. Make sure the ends of your hair are super smooth before rolling. Since I am such a junkie, I use different things on different days so one day my con of choice may be Elucence, GDL/Wheat Germ combo, Silicon Mix, 11 en 1, Sheep Placenta, Baba de Caracol...you get my point. My fave serum is Alfaparf Semi di Lino Crystalline Drops :lick:. After I take my hair down, I take a bit of coconut oil in my hands and finger comb out my curls. I don't apply the coconut oil to my scalp, only the ends.

Hi there!

Typically, I only use water when roller setting my hair. I've found that I get the best results that way. If you try rollersetting again, nix the oil, use water only in your spray bottle and ensure that you saturate the hair adequately with water so that the ends of your hair lay flat on the roller. Hope that helps!
