I have been having an ongoing problem with dry, cripsy ends for the last few months. I have tried a number of methods of imparting moisture, but the methods did not seem to work or the results were only temporary. So finally, last night, I used shea butter on my ends and sealed with my castor oil/coconut oil mix. I just took my hair down to feel my ends, and they feel soooo good!!! I know that this isn't anything new, but I just wanted to share my good news with anyone who is experiencing the same thing. Hopefully, this isn't one of those temporary things.:ohwell:

P.S. I used L'Occitane en Provence Shea Butter in the metal tin. It says 100% Pure Shea Butter on the label, but is that the same thing as unrefined? I dunno.

Happy you solved your problem. I know what you mean about temporary things, my hair is bipolar

Thank you for sharing this because I use the coconut oil/castor oil combo while baggying and I still have the lil crisp thing going on. Truth is, I really am due for a cut, i just don't want to right now. I will up my combo a bit to the shea butter mixture and see how it goes. Thanks a lot.

I love L'Occitane Shea Butter but you can get more for your money if you pick up some regular unrefined shea butter. (or even use a website like www.sheabutterhut.com) I never tried putting L'Occitane in my hair. That lil 2oz tin is 16.00. But if your tin say 100% pure Shea Butter (Mine did) It's the good stuff!!!! If money is not an issue, then L'Occitane is great!

Thanks for posting the link. I think I will order some. I love L'Occitane's products, but the prices are out of this world. They are some of the best that I have used though... The only reason I used it was because my mom ordered me this big gift set a couple of years ago and it contained full-sized products including the shea butter tin. I have a 4.5 oz, and its barely used. When the mango butter failed me, I thought,:scratchch "Let me try this out." And here we are. I even think that my mom still has another full tin of shea butter left, so I might have to "borrow" that from her. I will use up "the good stuff" and order some less expensive stuff.

I have recently begun sealing in oil while wet, but I apply Elasta QP Mango Butter to the ends. I found that they are softer this way, but it is only a temporary fix. I am washing tonight, so I will try this out with the Shea Butter. I'll let you know the results tonight. HTH!

ETA: For anyone who's interested. I looked on QVC.com and I saw a L'Occitane gift set that included a full sized hand and foot cream, 2.6 oz body cream and 2oz shea butter tin all for $38 To me that's a really good deal considering that a fullsized shea butter tin or ultra rich body cream for$38 alone!! The hand cream is the best that I have used. You already know how I feel about the shea butter and the body cream in fantastic. I haven't tried the foot cream but I suppose it's just as superb. There's only one caveat.....

It's on waitlist. According to the site, it will ship within 45 days and you won't be billed until they recieve it in their warehouse. I think it's worth a try. I am still thinking about placing an order.
