Estimating hair length

For those of you who have your current hair length in inches on your signatures, how often do you change the measurements? Do you ever simply estimate?

I ask because, looking at my offline hair journal, I seriously screwed up the measurement of my own hair because I switched up between guessing and measuring. I totally screwed up the consistency thing. I don't think I am going to measure again until after my second set which should be around April or May.

I get my hair measured when I get my ends trimmed. Last time it was measured was mid-July.
