Is that really her hair? I assumed it wasn't cause it seemed like she shaved her head and then all of a sudden appeared with all this hair, I never saw any growing out stages. Either way, it looks great, I would love to get my fro that big.

I am SO confused. I know she shaved her haitr in 2001 but in every pic I see she has the same "hair". I would love to know even though I would be crushed.

I saw here in the last issue of Sophisticates Black Hair and she had a TWA, I don't know how old that picture was though.

I remember reading somewhere that even her dreads were extensions, when she had them. Sorry to burst your bubble Coco! My fro is getting close to that size so maybe I can be your inspiration, lol.

Yes, Erykah's fro is a wig but it is fierce! She has "new" hair now...Did anyone watch Dave Chappelle last night? If not, catch the rerun on Saturday on Comedy Central...She performed "Back in the day" and she had this beautiful weave that looked like a twistout...It was huge and she had two twists hanging down in the front.

Coco and Prada, I'm planning to post some pics next time I take my braids out. Hopefully by then it will be as big as hers. But I ain't gonna lie, it's not quite there yet.

Wow, I didn't know that was her hair. Cause looking at my Essence Wisdom of the AGes book (2003), there's a pic of her in purple and black micro braids, and it looks fuzzy at the top (her real hair), but undetectable throughout the rest of the braids, like her hair is really 2-3" or something.

I could be way off though--they could just be really half-well-done braids?

I have the latest pic I have seen of Erykah wearing her real hair in a twa in my album....and I have another one I'll scan in a minute and place in my album.

It's a wig--her hair is in a TWA style--and she wears that wig off and on it seems just for fun....She was just here in Indy a few months ago and performed and took the wig off and her hair was in a TWA....

Just saw Dave Chapelle DVD season 2 with Erykah performing "Back in the day"---loved her hair!!! I can't wait till I get my salon twistout on my transitioning hair next week--I know it will not be that big and fierce --but I sooo loved her hair and style during that performance !
 
its definitely a wig I saw her perform live and her wig literally flew off...the concert was outside and it was really windy that day! It really did fly off of her hair but she kept on singing. She barely had any hair and it was looking a hot mess! Thankfully she retrieved her wig and put it on after she finished her song!..it was hilarious!
