Gosh LadyE, I was going to start this thread today as it was on my mind. I beleive that at the end of the day, healthy ends=growth retention.

I try to keep my ends as straight as possible. When I bantu my hair into to knots at the back of my hair under my wig, the last three inches are flat against the knot. When I undo, they are practically as straight as natural hair straight can get.

When I wash with baking soda, I concentrate on ends too to remove build up and over time to loosen the curl more in this area.

I moisturize about once every other day and keep a baggy over my bantus under my wig all week.

I still have a little barbed wire going on down there, but heay, it beat a year ago. Much improvement. I will continue dilligently.

I totally agree with this..... the line of thought is - if you make those areas stronger - then wearing your hair down every now and them will be no big deal!

I still keep my hair braided and up as much as possible.

I see you LHD!!

I missed this thread somehow.

I keep my ends up with:
Seamless combs
Protective Styling 95% of the time
Extra heavy application of any moisture product I'm using (being able to make a ponytail makes that SO much easier!)
Henna
KiyaFizzle

:strong:I have to bring out the big-guns, lol. I'm relying on deep conditioning, Hugo Naturals Conditioner (for a leave-in),shea butter, sealing with coconut oil, and bunning to keep my ends super moisturized.

p.s. Oh yeah, how could I forget wearing my silk scarf at night and not combing my hair excessively? Those are also key for me.

1. Optimal conditioning is key to great hair....from roots to tips....

2. Avoid teeny weeny twists, and other tangly hair styles.....

3. Rubbing ends with olive, sunflower, or other linoelic ( high in efa's) will dramatically cut down on snags and knots

4. before a final rinse.... dunk your ends in icy cold distilled water.....

5. Wear hair UP most of the time.
wow did not know thanks a heap
I used to get snags and knots will try the sunflower oil-- does it have to be icy cold distilled water?

~deep conditioning, putting extra conditioner on the ends
~No direct heat, only indirect heat from my hooded dryer
~moisturizing daily

~frequent dusting--I hate scraggly-looking ends:nono: Im a fan of blunt ends:yep:

I do the bolded, too. No matter what conditioner I am using on my head, I always add something moisturizing to my ends, like L'anza Kukui Nut or anything else thick and moisturizing. Doing good so far. :yep:
