Oh my goodness. It is awesome. I have no more breakage. I let my hair air dry and it's has a shine without any oil. It feels like silk. It's awesome.

I am really impressed with this product. Thanks to all of you ladies that recommended this and told of your success.

I've tried so many things to combat my hair shedding and this stopped it in it's tracks. I just feel like crying.

((((HUGS))))) and  to you all.

I can read your excitement from your post. I am glad this worked out for you. :)

Please elaborate on this Eulence MBC + Shikakai. What exactly are you doing with both :poke: . I was on my way to order both before I saw this post. I was planning on mixing Shiakakai with Eulence then using it as a no poo daily (cuz I no poo daily). Then when I need to clarify I would use the Shiakakai alone once a week.

I read about using henna as a gloss and then I read about shiakaki being able to stop shedding just as henna does.

So I made a paste with shiakakai powder and the elucense mbc. Can't tell you how much I used of either I just poured and mixed until it looked like a creamy paste. I then applied the paste to my hair covered with a plastic cap and let it sit for 30 min. I did not apply heat. I rinsed it out and it felt so silky. I put it in pony tail because I was going to the store.
Around 9:00 pm or so I took my hair down and looked at it and the top was dry and silky and shiny and I had not put any oil on it at all and when I combed it, I barely got any to come out. I even used the rat tail comb to see what would happend and I didn''t have but maybe 3 strands to come out.

I'M SHOUTING AROUND NOW, because I have been trying everything to stop this shedding and some of it is breakage from overprocessing and color.

I will use more shiakaki next time, I was a little leary since I've had bad experiences when I experimenting.

This is definately a keeper for me.

Dreamer are you relaxed or natural? Is your hair normal, dry or oily?

Sorry it took me a minute to reply but I had to go to church and get my praise on.

But I'm relaxed with elucence perm, and my hair is normal to dry.

I think it's dry because I use the MTG and not realizing that's what drying it out.

Last night I oiled my scalp with Vatika oil and this morning, my hair was off the chain. My DH asked me what did I do.

It is so shiney and no shedding and it's blowing me away. I can't keep my hands out of it.

I'M IN LOVE:D

WOW- It's (Shikaki) like that, Dreamer. I'm going to try this ASAP. Thanks for posting.

Oh.. how often should you apply.. like once aweek, month or with every co wash? Any recommendations?

thanks for posting this! i have been experiencing really bad shedding lately from doing too much wet bunning/ponytailing lately, so I am going to order some shikakai powder this week. And I'm hoping I still have some Elucence MB left, that stuff is soo yummy!!! thanks again:)

Well, this is what I plan to do. I'm by no means an expert. So if someone can help answer please do.

I will shiakakai weekly with my Elucense MCB and continue to oil my hair with vatika and BT (When it comes)

I will try henna, and when I do I'll add it to that do.

Shikakai does not have any kind of color enhancers. It's purely a strengthener and the box says it's adds new life to hair strands, and I say AMEN.

I didn't order it. I was out shopping on Saturday and went to a shoe store (my other weakness) and a Indian store was right beside it. I went in and it was on the shelf for $1.49 or $2.49. one of those prices. I bought the Vatika Oil and some Alma oil and some Reshma (sp) henna and I paid a little of nothing.

I notice that some of their products might sit on the shelf awhile because a lot of people are not familiar with it, so I'll have to be careful make sure I'm getting quality products.

Interesting & ironic...I did something similar Saturday night. I used Nexxus Therappe & Keraphix (mixed) and added castor oil & shikakai. My hair was also super lustrous, soft & shiny. It also felt thicker. I'm very pleased. Now I'm eager to see what henna will do! :D

Yes, Henna is my next step. I don't want red hair so I'm going to have to really do my research.

I'm glad you had success to. Today my hair in in a bun and I keep running my hand over my head every now and then I guess to see if it's still soft and silky.

Dreamer - you ain't neva lie and I see why you're so happy. I tried this last night due to a burnt hair fiasco I had (another thread) and I hardly lost any hair during my wash/dc process. My hair is 16+ weeks and I usually lose alot of hair during the wash. I changed up the mix though and prepoo'd with a concoction of Shikakai+Elucence but I added a little JBCO+Vatika+Amla+Olive Oil to the mix and my hair is stronger than ever. Thank you!

I have shikakai powder but it does not dissolve really well. I like the results but how do you get it to rinse completely from your hair?

I rinse it until I see nothing else coming out then I shampoo and condition and that does it for me. My hair is clean soft and strong all at the same time. I also add a little Amla oil to my ends and my hair is really looking good.

I also read somewhere try mixing the Shikaikai powder with coconut milk instead of water. I'll try that to see what it does.

I'm glad others are seeing the same results.

I tried it last night and loved the results, this is my first time Shikakai.
I added Gift Of NatureAlmond Herbal hair oil to my Elucence and Shaikaki mix plus some water.
Thanks for posting this combo my strand dont know what happen and my hair seems strenghten.
I have yet use the Shikakai shampoo bar and oil will try next wash day.

To those of you using Shikakai, what brand are you using? And is it hard to wash the herbs out of your hair?

Thanks

dont hold me to this but i think from nature with love carries this too. i wanted to order some in the past but they're always sold out. i do believe this was it. i'll check it out:)

edit to add: they do carry it. heres the description....

Our shikakai powder comes from de-shelled shikakai nuts. Shikakai is referred to as "fruit for the hair." It has a naturally mild pH, and it gently cleans the hair without stripping it of natural oils. Use shikakai as a natural hair wash for sensitive scalps or to control dandruff. Shikakai is said to promote hair growth and strengthen hair roots. For best results, combine 1 tablespoon each of shikakai powder, amla powder, bhringraj and aritha powder. Add them to 1 cup boiling water. Allow the infusion to sit for 10 minutes. If you have dandruff or scalp problems, you can add 1 teaspoon of neem powder to this mixture. You can also add 1 teaspoon of liquid castille soap to the mixture if you have very oily hair. Once cooled, use this mixture to wash your hair. Rinse well with warm water. If desired, follow with a light spritzing of amla and brahmi oils to condition the hair.

I've used HESH brand and also From nature with love's shikakai. I found it much easier to rinse when I mixed it with conditioner as opposed to mixing with water.
