I have been on the hunt for the perfect moisturizer for my ends and I has read a great deal about Elasta Qp mango butter and judging from the feel of it in the tub (its thick and luxurious) id imagine it would do a wonderful thing, well it didnt!!!, it didnt really do anything unless i use a TON and then im a greaseball LOL, i get better results with shea butter although my hair just seems to suck that up too,, my hair is doing reallly well now and my goal is to keep it that way without using some cone filled serum on my ends,, I need something super moisturizing for my ends,, esp since im on a NO TRIM till 2007 challenge ,, anyone have any recommendations,, anything will be appreciated....

sorry to hear about your experience with elasta qp mango butter. i love it and its the only thing i use to moisturize my hair, so i have no suggestions. but im sure some of the ladies have suggestions for you. goodluck.

When I first used QP Mango Butter I felt the same way. Now I only apply it to wet hair and ends and it does wonders! I've heard a few ladies on here use Profectiv Healthy Ends. I've never used it so wouldn't be sure of how it works. I've also heard some ladies mix a little of their fav condish with water and use that on the ends...then seal with oil. I just mix every moisturizer I have together along with my Kemi Oyl and that works pretty well for my ends. I might be trying the Healthy Ends soon though.

I think only a few people here have gotten great results as their sole moisturizer...others including me didnt work very well. Its too heavy. I find that it only works well for smoothing hair back into ponys or on the ends when wet

I agree. I hope you find something that works for you.

I've been eying that mango butter stuff since some people seem to really like it but I have too many other moisturizers to use up so I'm not buying anymore. I use Amla and Olive heavy cream from Qhemetbiologics.com. It really is good stuff.

Mango Butter Does nothing for me either!!

I hated that stuff.

I agree with what someone said about real Mango Butter. I know that there are people that say that your moisturizer must be water based, but I don't need that on my ends.

I do use NTM Silk Touch Teave in or Loreal Loreal Smooth Intense Anti frizz cream on my new growth, but with my Deep Condition and leave-ins bi weekly, I really only use real butters on my ends.

I use Hemp seed butter on my ends and Coconut oil thoughout.

But, If I did not regularly deep condition or if I skip my leave in, I think I would need more.

Mango butter is waaay too heavy to be used as a daily moisturizer. I use it mostly on my ends and edges, and sometimes as an overnight moisturizer during those times my hair is especially dry. I love the stuff, but the key is to use it sparingly.

I tried Elasta QP Mango Butter and all it did was help my hair smell good and slick it down, no moisture just greasy like you said....now I mist my hair with water and add Carols Daughter Healthy Hair Butter followed by some of her Mimosa Honey on the ends and on the top to slick...that has been keeping my hair very moisturized and happy

I agree that Elasta QP mango butter doesn't do much for me alone But if you mix a few different oils/ butters into it and stir it up to a whipped consistency, I think its one of the best moisturizers ever! But if you don't have the extra oils lying around, I might not bother with it.

WOW! It really suprises me when people say that Elasta QP Mango Butter doesnt work for them. My hair absolutly loves it. Sorry it didnt work but Profectiv healthy ends is thick and it may work for you. :)

Ok I found something that works better, I had bought it b4 i bought the Elasta QP and threw it aside , Anyway i tried Jason Naturals Mango butter again last nite and its REALLY REALLY good and it smells soooo good too, all you need is too touch the butter , literally and thats enough for each section on the ends,, it should last a year at that rate lol,, it was 5.99 for a small tub

I LOVE it! but I only use it on my ends and edges only. And I've found that it works best on my damp/wet hair--- edges or ends versus dry hair. I think that's the key.

When I used it all over my dry hair, I looked a hot a mess!!

Same here, but I found success with it as a gel/pomade...on wet hair....it works wonders that way for me....As a moisturizer...:nono:

When I read all the raves about it, I ordered some from Walgreens.com since it was no where to be found in my area. However, I never really got into using it on a consistent basis. I was more likely to just open it and smell it and then put it back in my cabinet. :ohwell:

Since purchasing it, I have found my staples and the Mango Butter never found a permanent place in my haircare collection. So I ended up using it up in a practice self relaxing application. :look:

The mango butter is not something that I use everyday but when I do use it, it usually works really well. Like every product its trial and error.

Elasta mango butter is crap! I don't understand what the hype was about. I use it on my ends because I don't want to be waistful but I throwing the **** away today. It's just smells good... that's about it. I used unrefined shea butter on my ends for the first time last night and it did an amazing job. I'm going to stick with my shea butter.

I am sorry it did not work well for you..everyone's hair is different. My hair takes to it very well. I love using it on my ends and hairline. I seal it with KeraCare Essential Oils.

Funny this post came up because I just bought 5 jars of it on Saturday since it is now so hard to get a hold of. I was too happy.

Im with you on that lol,, its funny becuz feeling it in the jar,, it seems like such a wonderful product,, till you put it in your hair, i think it caused dryness, I found what i think is my new HG and its Jason Naturals Mango butter, now that stuff is amazing!

Regarding the Elasta QP Mango Butter, it was nice and silky when I first used it. I was really impressed, and the smell is "heavenly!" The following morning I was so shocked that my ends were so dry--bone dry. I said to myself: "What happened to my ends?!" I decided to pour some olive oil in it--which made it better--but I won't be replacing it. Also, it will "mold" if it sits for a while . . . so it's best to put it in the freezer if you don't use it often--like me.
