So, after much research I decided to purchase a 1 1/4 inch Solia from folica.com and I was so excited to get it. First thing that pissed me off: I ordered it on 11/25 I'm just getting it today 12/5 because they were recycling order numbers and it got all messed up.:wallbash: Ok, so its finally here I open the box and ....WTF? This thing looks cheap as hell. For $88 I expected more, my $50 Jilbere looks better than this. So, let's forget aesthetics let's test this baby out. I set it on 300 deg. and do a swipe on a piece of my hair....nothing spectacular AT ALL. No extra shine or bounce it just laid there and I don't have hardly any products on my hair. So, I'll wash it and try it on fresh hair if I'm not impressed this sucka is going back. Off to research the FHI....

Actually I like my pink Solia WAY better than the 1.5 inch sedu I got. Sold that Sedu. It got too hot for my taste and the lower temps would not get my hair straight. Got rid of it QUICK!

What Solia model did you get?

Honestly, I have used h2Pro, FHI and Solia (they are about the same, to me) and although they "look" the same as the cheaper brands, they last longer and work better over the long haul.

Speaking of Flatirons, has anyone heard of a brand called ISO International. Someone gave me a reccommendation for this brand of flatiron but I am not totally sold yet.

P.S.-The Sedu sounds nice

I also ordered a Solia,, I couldnt believe this was what was getting raved about! I think it HAD to be a defective! The plates would not close on my hair and it wouldnt swipe! It was a joke for me , I returned it immediately

I was thinking about getting the Solia since it was was cheaper than the Sedu last week when they had them on sale. So glad I got the Sedu instead... it hasn't got here yet though.

use a serum . the flat iron itself will not make your hair shiny. you need to be putting a lil something on it first.

Actually, I have seen some flatirons that add shine without the use of a serum. My friend bought one from one of those kiosks in the mall and they always do a hair demonstration first and that thing had her hair blinging! Too bad is was $160!

hmmm, its probably the natural oil coming through. but still, you gotta be careful cause of heat damage. you dont wanna scorch your hair trying to get it shiny :)

Aww, sorry to hear that. I love my solia.
Sound where did you get yours? I got mine from folica and when I went to the solia website my flatiron looks nothing like that. The plastic looks so cheap and hollow. It literally looks like someone just stamped solia on the top.

Can you post a picture of your Solia? Perhaps those of us who own Solias can chime in and see if it's fake or not.

My iron is on the right. I guess they look the same except the one of the left( which is the picture from soliabeauty.com) has some sort of grip on the handle.

Sorry the pics are so little. You can click on them and make them bigger. Does anybody know how to just post them without them having to be thumbnails size?

It looks fine to me. Well, I own the pink Solia, but based on your pic it does look fine, to me. I got my pink solia from Folica.

WAIT! That just reminded me of something! :look: My pink Solia died after only a few months and I am sending it back to Folica for replacement. umm. Makes you wonder!

I know!! I bought it back in March of this year and I only used it about 6 or 7 times tops. I was doing my mom's hair with it and BAM! That bad boy just stopped working - will not power up.

I know all things can break and have mechanical issues, but I was not happy. I have an old FHI that has been dropped, loaned out, used for years and she is still ticking!

I am just so glad it happened within the warranty period!

I have never used a Sedu or Solia...but I own a CHI Turbo and a FHI..between the two the FHI is the better of the two. From the posts here and other research I would go for the Sedu...
