Wow! I've always wanted to dry the old fashioned deep conditioner with plain mayonnaise and egg and yesterday, I finally tried it and though I was so grossed out mixing it and putting it on my hair that I had to go to a "happy place"

, when I rinsed and shampooed, my hair was soooo shiny and it felt so silky! I will definetly do this again. Has anyone else had this experience?

My sister use to swear by it growing up. She had eggs and mayo in the fridge with her name on it...LOL. I think she still does this, but I don't think there's a happy enuf place for me to "visit" in order for me to try it.

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that.

I added 1 egg to about 1/2 cup of mayonnaise and mixed until they were completely blended together.

i love this mixture! it really does make a world of difference. i add a little honey and cinnamon to it also.

This mixture left absoulutely NO smell in my hair because I rinsed it out first with cold water and then shampooed (this was my pretreatment). The moisture, smoothness, and shine that I'm sure is normally not there, was still there even after shampooing.

did you then go on to condition?

Yes I did. Since I had just done a relaxer last week, I did a protein with keraphix and a humectress follow up. I did everything the same in my normal routine (wash with CON, condition with humectress or lekair(if lekair with heat), and follow up with infusium and oil mixture). The only difference was that I did the pretreatment with the mayo and the egg.

gonna have to try this one...

i tried it!!

the key not to get scrambled eggs on your head is to beat the eggs really well or blend-whip it in a processor.

i blended the eggs real smooth in a food processor then added honey and olive oil. in a bowl full of mayonnaise i added this mixture, mixed and used a portion as pre-shampoo. using hood dryer on high heat for 3-5mins and leaving it in for 2 hours. when washed out my hair was visibly stronger! this is a keeper.thanks

I add a couple drops of tea tree oil to make sure it is safe and to the eggs and mayo well blended, i add yogurt, black strap molasses, avocado oil, emu oil, and ylang ylang and grapefruit essential oils. I use this as a heavy duty moisturizer, shiner and bodifier. It produces a full swinging wrap. I do a mild diluted shampoo and then an avc rinse because whatever oil you have in your hair and the oil in the mayo will appear to double with a wrap...it just seeps through every strand almost. and I do not like a greasy wrap. Bonjour.

i've tried this, but then your hair smells funny afterwards

It still smelled funny after rinsing and completely shampooing?

To everyone who uses mayo and eggs, I would like to know how often you do this treatment. I tried it this week and liked the results but thought that doing again this week would be too much. Please let me know.

I do it 2x week during a moisturizing week. I do hair care in specific phases. Protein, Mega Moisture, Rest, Shampoo. During the moisture phase I alternate this one with clear water rinses and do no combing or brushing. Not necessary because the hair is so moist and tangle free and no frizz... Bonjour.

Well I was alternating the mayo one day a week with a hot oil one day a week, but I think I"ll just stick with the mayo and egg for both days because i really no longer see a purpose in hot oil and since they are natural ingredients, I woudln't expect your hair to have any side effects from the mayo and egg (mayo, egg, honey, and olive oil for me). Someone correct me if I"m wrong about that.

I did this my hair kinda felt hard after a while, but i blow dried it and it became soft, and my hair felt mosturized.

I've got a Somalian friend with 3a hair texture and she swears by egg, mayonnaise, tomato, cuccumber & honey as a hair moisturiser/conditioner. Her hair has incredible shine and is simply beautiful.
