I am have been consuming more fruit and veggies since joining Pinkskates' fitness challenge. I've lost a couple of pounds and I feel better. However, I was in Barnes & Nobles today with a few natural haired beauties looking for natural hair books. We ran across one called Textured Tresses by Diane Da Costa. She says that split ends can be causes by expandable foods such as fruit, sugar, and salads. Has anybody else heard of this? If so, please explain to me how this is possible!!!:look:

That sounds crazy unless the foods you eat leads to dry hair then that may make sense but otherwise that sound like a bunch of bull.

That's what i was thinking. if you're eating bad foods then you will put out poor quality hair which is prone to dryness and splits.

I dont understand why she would say fruits and salads casue that though.

That makes sense in terms of yin and yang. Fruit is very yin and causes expansion of the life force. Sugar is also very yin.

At first I thought it was a misprint or something. I don't get the whole yin & yang concept, but I know I need fruit to survive.

Without going into a whole bunch of details about macrobiotics, here is a post about the yin in fruit. Basically, you should eat what is local to your area in the season. To eat otherwise can cause health imbalances. Most of the fruit we eat is tropical, not local and we eat far too much.

I'm not totally sure that this is what the author was referencing, but I could see how she would draw the conclusion.
