....for those who have really long, natural or just have a hard time roller setting. I've shared this on a few forums and a lot of ladies seem to like the idea so I wanted to share it with you all....maybe it will help someone because it really helped me! I have a hard time roller setting because my hair is natural and as you can see it's pretty long so it was hard for me to reach the back plus trying to smooth out the curls so I could roll it up tight so I came up with another way. I put my hair in about 11 ponytails and rolled up each individual ponytail. It was that easy. Doing it this way also has the benefit of getting your roots straight which is a problem for some naturals doing roller sets.

After sitting under the dryer for 2 hours:eek: . I took the rollers out, cut the bands and blended it w/ my fingers. It came out so good, better than when I got it done. I was proud of myself:cool: . You will have some parts in your hair from the ponytails but they blend out pretty good. I get a big kick out of the fact that I"m saving myself $30 everytime I do this.

The products I used were diluted Lottabody to re-wet as I went, Qhemet's Amla and Olive Heavy Cream moisturizer and WGO to seal it in. Sprayed w/ a little Keracare oil sheen when done. Pics in Fotki under "First Rollerset Attempt".

The pictures say "Forbidden" when i try to click on them. Anyone else having this problem?

I clicked on your album link. It came out really nice :) I'm going to try it one day but I'm so used to rollersetting the traditional way :(

How did you get the roller dents out of your hair when you removed the rubber bands??? Did you flat iron any of it?

I think this is really going to help a lot of people. Thanks!

I love all the creativity and ingenuity that flows around here.

I love the traditional way don't get me wrong, I just couldn't do it on my own hair and this made it possible. When I do other people's hair I always do it traditional. I wish I could do it that way on myself.

@atlien....that was the only problem w/ it, you will have dents somewhat but they fluff out pretty good. I just used my fingers and blended through the roots. I didn't flat iron any of it, the roots came out straight.

I can't wait to try this, but I thought that ponytail holders on wet hair can be damaging... have you had any problems with breakage or splits? how do you get around it?

Yours turned out nice! I took my first spin at it awhile back after seeing loneii's ponytail rollerset. There are quite a few ladies that do this method, but hers sold me on it. For me, the traditional method turns out better though.

Very nice!

Your maxiglide pics are also great... :)

You did a great job - your hair looks very pretty!!

I too enjoy ponytail rollersetting. It helps since I don't have any other way to get my roots fairly straight (except my trusty scarf). My ponytail dents blend in with the rest of my hair after wearing my scarf.

No, I didn't get any damage from them. I guess because I didn't have them in that long and my hair wasn't being manipulated while wearing them. I cut them off.

Thank you so much, Pokahontas! :D I'm one of the people who really need this and will DEFINITELY be trying it! :yep: Previously, I tried to rollerset my hair (the tradtional way) and it was a complete disaster! BTW, your hair is GORGEOUS!!! :rosebud:  :rosebud:

Thanks Sistaslick. That means a lot coming from you. Is it difficult for you to rollerset the traditional way? It is for me but maybe I just need the practice. I think it's because my hair is so curly and it's just hard for me to get it smoothed out like I want.

I did my first ponytail roller set last weekend. I was very pleased. It took only an hour to dry and about 20 mins to put in as opposed to my usual hour to roll up and almost 2 hours to dry. I did flat iron my roots though but I was happy with the results just the same.
