So, I've been waiting for almost a year for my hair to grow out of its heat damaged state so I could cut it off...even if it was 2 inches I would have been fine with that, but my hair was so damaged it was breaking off faster than it was growing....

My hair stayed the same length for 6 months while I waited.

Everyone was in my ear saying blah blah its fine but my hair was thinning and not responding to anything I was doing....

People claimed my hair was fine, but only I knew deep down what was going on, I know how my hair should feel, regardless of how it may look, so I took a deep breath and decided I had to move on...

I wanted to experiment since I knew I was going to shave it off.

Sorry about the big pics!

My hair before:

I decided to cut it a little:

And dye it some crazy color....purple! (I've never permanantly dyed my hair before, so it was cool):

And finally I shaved it! I didn't cry at all! :yep:

JUST FELT LIKE SHARING! :yay:

I LOVE the purple you had! I used to have purple in my hair and LOVED it! You are so courageous to cut all your hair off!

Every 4 years it seems like I have to cut my hair for some reason, so I guess I got used to the idea and didn't give it a second thought.

I had to cut my hair to get sisterlocks (it wouldve cost way too much if I didn't)

I had to cut my hair to get rid of the sisterlocks (I got tired of them)

I had to cut my hair to get rid of a texturizer I thought looked dumb

And now this.... :ohwell:

Congrats!!!!! Sounds like you did EXACTLY what was right for you. I'm glad your having fun along the way. Kudos to you for taking the bull by the horns and doing what needed to be done. Judging by how fab you look in all the pics I say go on wit yo bad self......u don't just go hard in the paint....u putting paint where it aint lol.

That's confidence. You know how to gain length so cutting your hair is no big deal. That's how it should be. It seems when it comes to your hair, you are totally free and liberated. I loved the purple and and I love the shaved head as well. Enjoyed all the pictures! Thank you for posting.

Your hair looked beautiful! But only you know how it should feel. I totally understand wanting to cut your hair all off, I can get like that too. Do intend on keeping it short?

No I really want it to grow. This time I'm not putting any heat on my hair at all until I reach my goal....that was my mistake. I know how my hair was before I started going crazy with the heat and it was great, so I want to get back to that.

Wow, the purple looks so amazing!! :D What products did you use to do it?

Great hair progress by the way :)

I just bleached it with L'oreal Quick Blue and 20 cream developer and left it on for 40 minutes.
I was so scared my hair was gonna fall out, but I wanted to try it.
Surprisingly the roots turned blonde. The rest was bright red because I had a semi permanent dye on it that apparently was still there....:perplexed

For the purple, I was gonna use a permanent dye at first, but I got scared so I used semi permanent Adore Violet Gem. (I wanted to wear it for a while so I wanted to make sure it didn't fall out.)

The semi permanent dye I had on it before (Adore crimson) changed the color a bit.... so it wasn't exactly the purple I wanted, but the roots never had any color so you can tell there was different purples in there.

Congrats, what you did takes a lot of guts, but you went out with a Bang! If you're gonna cut it all off anyway, might as well enjoy it a little right? lol
