Dusting how often????

Sweetpeadst,
on average I dust about once every 3 to 6 months, when I notice my ends looking thinner. I cut what is necessary to restore the thickness and volume to my hair.

I must dust around 12 weeks, just from experience. Sometimes I take off 1/8 to a 1/4 inch (last time it was 1/3 due to excessive heat usage) .

Okay, I get like 1/4 -1/2 inch taken off ...I wasn't sure if that was dusting or not....

then everytime I get a touch up...the minimum would be 14 weeks then....
I touch up at the 14-16 week point.

1/8 - 1/4 of an inch is a dusting. Frequency depends on how well your ends hold up.

OK is't it better to get it done when our hair is straight as possible so how often are you relaxing or does it not matter since you are doing DB/

It doesn't matter whether or not your hair is straight, however I prefer to get mine done when I'm freshly blow dried. What I meant by frequency is dependent, is that if your ends don't get raggady after 8 - 10 weeks, and you want to try to hold out, no problem. But for me, I notice a huge difference if I wait longer than 10 weeks. I end up having to have more cut off.

Did that make sense?

I'm w/the rest of the girls, I tend to dust my ends every 8-10wks. Since my hair is getting longer, I actually gather my hair into a ponytail and dust the frail ends while my hair is tied back. Surprisingly, most of the time it comes out even!!!

Yeah it makes since!! When I was getting my hair trimmed every 6 weeks along time ago my ends looked great!!! So I think I will go for every 9 weeks and get a dusting!!! Instead of doing no trims!!!

I only trim once or twice a year. I do S&D's once every couple of months. I don't usually find more than 5.

Absolutely.

Trimming that often is great if you are maintaining a cut, but when you are trying to retain length...get dustings ;)

Yeah that is why I am going to try your method!!!!
And if my method doesn't work for you...keep tweaking and adjusting until you find what works for YOU :)

I will Webby!! What fo you do to care for your ends??
I just avoid direct heat on the ends (no blow drying the ends). I use a decent leave-in and if I do a co-wash-n-air-dry, I dampen my hair before combing to prevent snapping. That has worked for me.

THanks!! I don't think I can airdry my hair unless it is in rollers or a wrap not loose!!!!
