I have been washing my hair all wrong! LOL Apparently shampoo is for the scalp and conditioner is for the hair. *smacks self inthe head* I always thought your hair should be squeaky clean after a shampoo and condtion...NOT!

This duh moment is brought to you from reading Textured Tresses. It's amazing what a little reading can do.

I always thought shampoo was for your hair too. I keep reading about shampoo being just for your scalp as well. I plan on not using shampoo anymore but I wonder if conditioner can clean your scalp too.

Yea, I know when I hear ladies talk about cond washes, they say you just have to rinse your hair, gently rubb your scalp with the pads of your fingers then use conditioner sort of the same way you would shampoo.

I agree with you all; however, if you use a lot of 'cones or heavy oils on your hair, then you'll need to 'poo your hair as well. At least I do, in order to remove buildup. I think the no 'poo thing works well if using very minimal, 'cone free products on hair. Just my two cents. ..

Would it be okay to wash with conditioner if you only apply two products to your hair during the week (but not everyday)? I use S-Curl which has just Simethicone and Citre Shine Gel which has just Dimethicone in it. Will conditioner wash be sufficient???

I guess it's just me or whatever but I always wash my scalp and let the suds run down my hair. Everytime when I go to my stylist, she always says that my hair is clean. But the funny thing is that I use a lot of gunk in my hair. Apparently I am being very light handed when using hair styling products and whatnot.

@poohbear: I think you will have to try it to see if it works for you -- as we like to say on this board -- different things workd for different people . . .

@champagne: thats pretty much what I do too, focus the diluted 'poo on my scalp and let suds run down hair and it works great for me too.

I tried the 'no 'poo thing and eventho I don't use a lot of 'cones or stuff, I still didnt' like the cw only so I do the diluted 'poo once a week and hair is doing OK. I think this is an individual thing, like most things and you gotta experiment and see what works for YOU.
