I am only seven weeks post but i hav etons of new growth and I don't know whatto do now. I'll try a con wash today, but i need some more ideas.

Maybe you can try

1. Using a heavy water based moisturizer followed by an oil or shea butter to seal in the moisture.

2. The baggy method

Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Lotion

Those are the only two I can think of, they have similar ingredients but I prefer the Silk Elements you can find it at Sallys BSS

Hi! Maybe you should try a hot oil treatment with unrefined coconut oil and olive oil mixed. Sit under a dryer or with a plastic cap for 30 mins to an hour, wash with a moisturizing shampoo, deep condition for 20 to 30 mins. after you have done that, detangle your hair with a little bit of the mixture you used for your hot oil treatment with a little bit of conditioner. If you are going to air dry let your hair air dry for the portion of the time, 70% dry then finish drying with a silk or satin scarf. this with keep the moisture in and your hair should be soft. Hope this helps. By the way, I just started back using Phorme Leave in Conditioner from Biostrand. It is a light creamy spray, and you can use it daily. It keep your hair really soft and moisturized. I started using this back in 2002/2003. It helped with heat styling and daily use. It also helped with my hair growth, since it helped keep my hair from breakage and shedding. I had cut all of my hair off in Aug 2005 because I lost weight and wanted a change, but now I regret doing that, because I want my long hair back.

Hi, what is your method of drying? I have super dry hair no matter what leave-ins or conditioners that i use because I have been blowdrying my hair for the past year so my hair is dry. I find that when i rollerset, my hair acts right. but when i blowdry or air dry my hair is very dry. One method that i do is every day when i get home from work, i'll apply my daily moisturizers, then i'll put a showercap on my head, then my scarf...this will help re-moisturize my hair. The next day my hair is well moisturized, or repeat for 2 days if your hair neeeds it. I used to sleep in the showercap but it is uncomfy plus sometimes my hair would become too damp when i wake up in the mornings... so i leave the cap on for maybe 4-6hrs and take it off before bed...

It sounds like you have too much build-up. Use a chelator first (there are many threads on this topic and they list the different kinds; you may already have one) . Let it sit on your hair for 10 minutes; rinse; and then deep condition. You will notice a huge difference (good difference) in the texture of your hair after you have chelated. Your conditioner will be able to penetrate much better.

Has Humecto worked well for you before? If so, then it's definitely a build-up problem; or outdated product.

Let us know how everything works out.

I air dry for the most part. I'll do a roller set once in a while. I don't blow dry, or use any direct heat. What moisturizers do you use when you do your shower cap method?

^^^. Cosign. Also, can it be the humecto drying your hair out?
Never really thought about the humecto being the culprit. I'll leave it under the sink for a few weeks and see if there is any change.

Humecto worked great before. I'll do a search for the chelator. Thanks.
