Doobie Wrap???????

welcome to the board, sweetdaisies! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

a doobie wrap is when you roller set your hair. then you take it down and wrap it afterwards. some people sit under a dryer, some don't. here's a pic of the wrap:

This is what my friend does:
After rinsing out her deep conditioner, she sets her hair on the biggest rollers that her hair will hold. (She had to order a special dryer because she couldn't fit under the regular ones!) She likes to set it with Lottabody Cream Wrap or Black & Sassy Creamy Set. She sits under a medium hot dryer until hair is totally dry. About an hour. Then she takes out the rollers and wraps her hair. She leaves it wrapped for at least an hour (she says overnight is even better). Voila! Bouncy, straight, shiny hair.

I couldn’t wrap my hair or set it with rollers worth a damn, so I never figured out how to do this. No matter what, I always ended up looking like the guy on the Quaker Oats box or something from Soul Train circa 1979. Maybe my hair was too short... Hers is a little below the shoulder.
Someone at school once said my hair looked just like George Washington’s. NOT the look I was going for!

Thanks.I went to the salon yesterday and the lady was like what do you wanna do?I WAS LIKE I HAVE NO IDEA .Fortunately my older sister was there with me. I just took my hair out of braids and I GOT a perm and I DON'T EXACTLYknow the name of what the lady did but she set it with rollers on top and then straightened the rest with a hot iron.I can't wrap my hair or set it well so unless I get braids then I HAVE to go back every 2-3 weeks and get it done if I still want the look.Is this a good thing to do?please reply and thanks again

daviine, i definitely think it would work after the Caruso rollers. i would sometimes wrap it if i used too many rollers and made mine too curly.

sweetdaisies, you could practice wrapping your hair. i'm not that great at it, but i have gotten better with practice. they say you can also get good at setting it, but i haven't had the patience for that yet.

The Doobie Wrap sounds like The roller wrap. My hair stylist wet sets my hair and when I am dry she then wraps it. I sit under the dryer for five minutes and then she unwraps it.

Okay, pick me up off the floor! I am dying!

You are too funny! I am really going to try the roller wrap and roller set but I first need to get a hood dryer!

It's bad to say but your mom can really make you feel like a fool, even as old as I am! The first time I did a roller set (and I wasn't even all the way natural then) my Mom came over, saw my hair, and smilingly replied, "Well hey there Buckwheat"! /images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Can you say all my confidence was shot?

And if I told her she gave me a "natural hair" complex she would be heartbroken!

Tsk! Tsk! Things we say without realizing the effect (sp) They will have later!
