I posted this on another site I am on and decided to post here too.

So I straightened my hair last night so I could trim it up.
I wanted to wear it down but no matter how much grease, serum, oil I used, it would not lay down.
After much deliberation and since I'm style challenged, I decided to do a donut bun.

Thanks ladies.

How do you do that?

The donut is something I made from a sock.
I put my hair in a ponytail. Put the pony through the sock. Fan the hair around the sock. Put another elastic band around the sock. Gently wrap and tuck ends around/under bun.

Thanks for posting, my problem with the donut bun is how to tuck the ends...while protecting it??

I just gently wrap and tuck around the bun.

I did a donut bun for the first time this week and I was very pleasantly surprised at how great it came out. I don't know what took me so long:)

I'm scared to do them cuz in my generation they are sooooo 1990s. SN: Yours looks nice! I bought an insert to do one...I just haven't yet.

Punch, was your scarf an accessory or just something you were using to keep your edges down? Here is my bun that I've been wearing for the last four days:

Maybe I need to tie a scarf around it to liven it up a bit for the remainder of the week...? :look:

Hey funny! I just did something similar - I messed up a roller set so I just flat ironed my hair...then it just started getting bigger about 5 min after I was done (this is only the 2nd time I've straightened my hair), so I put it in a tuck bun b/c I can't actually make a big bun...

^^^ Umm...lovely. How do you ladies manage to keep a bun in for days? I have to take my out every night.

I take mine down each night and re-do it in the morning.

At first, the scarf was to smooth out the slight hump but I ended up keeping it on all day so it turned into an accessory

Tamed, I just make sure my bun is pretty secure (but not tight) on day one and tie it up every night. It will loosen a bit due to my cardio workouts 3x/wk but it stays put until I take it down. I have also noticed that my buns last longer on air dried hair.

Ok punch, scarf it is! I'm sure that I'll be pretty colorful in the office tomorrow

Elle, I love that color :lick: FIYAH!

I've been taking mine down every night too, but I want to try leaving it in longer...less manipulation.

I do my buns on air dried hair and I use plastic pins to hold it in place. I bought some satin scrunchies this past weekend. Hopefully, they will help hold my bun in longer.
