Re: Dontspeakdefeat\'s Wash Routine

Hi DSD

Thanks for posting your routine. I definitely want to get one of those shower combs and the Carol's Daughter healthy hair butter. Could you please post the HHB ingredients when you get the chance? Thanks.

Re: Dontspeakdefeat\'s Wash Routine

Thank you for sharing, that is why your hair is looking so lush and glossy.

Carol's Daughter Healthy Hair Butter ingredients:

Vegetable oil, including olive oil infused with lavender and sage herb
water
beeswax
cocoa butter
shea butter and essential oils of lavender
rosemary
lemongrass
cedarwood
ylang-ylang

Apply as often as needed to soften and promote growth.

Re: Dontspeakdefeat\'s Wash Routine

Ok. Now I know I was using a horse sized amount of HHB.

I'll have to try it again and not use so much.

Re: Dontspeakdefeat\'s Wash Routine

Thanks for replying so quickly. Those ingredients sound wonderful! I can't wait to get some of it when I go home for Thanksgiving break. By the way your hair looks great;shiny, healthy, and growing, as does your daughter's hair. I wish I would have known about healthy haircare practices at her age, she'll have waistlength hair by the time she's a teenager.

-Sassy Girl, you don't have to use a lot to get great results. You will just go through it too fast and have to buy more sooner. Go ahead and cut down and save those $$$$!!

Re: Dontspeakdefeat\'s Wash Routine

DSD,

Your album is great. So you wrap the hairnet just around the hairline and also you don't use any gel at all. I wonder if that is what is making my hair so brittle. Also I have a satin bonnet but I was using my scraf because I was afraid that if I used the bonnet my hair wouldn't lie down as while.

Thanks again for posting

Thank you! It took me a while to figure out just what I need to do to get it that way. Once I added the HHB that was all she wrote. The HHB is now one product I will not live with out. It provides excellent sheen and manageabilitly.

Thank you! The combination of the HHB and the hairnet slick my hair down so very well. I don't use any gel. It's too drying for me. You can get one of those nets at your local BSS.

Re: Dontspeakdefeat\'s Wash Routine

Thanks DSD, I am thoroughly enjoying reading about your routine and products.

Re: Dontspeakdefeat\'s Regemin with pics

I noticed that use a petroleum jelly as one your hair products... Do you use it to press your hair or something? I heard that it was a bad ingredient but I would need to use a good pressing oil that will contain the ingredient esp. if I want the press to last. Are you still able to moisturize effectively with petroleum jelly on your hair? I also heard that it blocks moisture or something like that. I'm asking because I once I take my braids out I will be pressing my hair weekly and I will have use some type of pressing oil.

I don't use the P-jelly to press my hair. I am relaxed. I use it to seal in the moisture to help preserve my ends. This way I will be able to retain my length. I also won't have to trim my hair as often. I moisturize before I apply the p-jelly and seal in the moisture with the jelly.

I think that most of the good pressing greases use petrolatum as the main ingredient I don't see any way around that unless you use a cream like Dudley's cream press or something similar. When I did press my hair the only thing that was effective to keep my hair from drying out completely and didn't make my hair revert was some type of oil. HTH

My old stylist used that hair net thingy when she wrapped my hair after rollersetting, then sat me back under the dryer for 10 minutes.
