Don't use EVOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For hair and skin use, I honestly don't think it matters. I think EVOO has a lighter more refined flavor when used in food preparation.

I doubt he said that because I've seen an episode where he said that we should eat evoo because it has healthy fats. Maybe he said not to HEAT evoo and if you are going to cook with it, to use regular.

Did your friend say he made reference to skin and hair?

I've used heated EVOO (mixed w/honey) for the past year and a half - my hair is fine.

I've cooked with heated EVOO for 15 years - my family and I are still alive and healthy.

did she tell u why u shouldnt use it...I hope she didnt just give u half information without telling u why or what it does to ur hair..

She can't just make a blanket statement like that. She needs to explain why and what it does. I do remember him doing a show on hair color and relaxers and he explained why in detail.

hair is superficial, i doubt if dr. Oz would have said not to use a particular oil on your hair. he advocates 2 tsp of olive oil per day for health benefits, and says that heating the oil repeatedly deminishes the health benefits.

She didn't say what he said....she did mention he said it was for cooking, but i thought to myself...so is regular o. oil

She didn't say what he said? No disrespect OP but you may have wanted to wait until you got he whole story to post such a thread. I came in here thinking (especially with all the exclamation points) that there was a sure explanation and reason why we shouldn't use EVOO. I like Dr. Oz but I'm not going to stop doing something just cuz he said so - using a product that works - especially without detail/facts and even more especially not based in hearsay.

What your friend stated is not true.

I watched that episode. Dr. Oz sat his Assistant of the Day down, poured olive oil in his hand, and put it in her hair. I laughed so hard because now this poor unsuspecting woman had a head full of olive oil that she must deal with after the show. He then put a plastic cap on her head. He made no distinction between grades of olive oil.

Here is the link to Dr. Oz's website where he praises olive oil. Tell your friend to pipe down and watch the clip.
Youth in a Bottle: Olive Oil | The Dr. Oz Show

I have used EVOO since I started with LHCF 2 years ago. My hair LOVES it, my skin LOVES it. Its mandatory for my DCs.

EVOO is not the lighter, refined....it's extra virgin...meaning first cold-press. You get all the proteins and whatever else in the oil.

Pure olive oil is the last press and is the lightest in flavor and topical application.

...so glad we cleared that up!..thanks for the clip, LaidBak! I luv olive oil! I even use it before tweezing my brows!
