I started making sure my hair looks nice everyday and people are responding to me in a nice but sometimes annoying way. This guy at my job won't stop hitting on me. He said it's my hair. This one woman won't stop asking me questions about my hair. But I"M LOVING IT ALL.

Doing my hair has also inspired me to wear my new clothes and make sure I look good from head to toe.

Add on ladies.

My SO noticed that when I used to do my hair everyday, I would wear make-up more often. It's like doing my hair and applying eye liner and shadow and mascara and a pretty shade of lipstick went hand in hand. Now that i mostly rock braidouts, I don't wear makeup at all. I put on some of my MAC lip gloss in the car and thats about it! IDK

I have a few quotes in my bedroom framed that says like
  • something like - dress your best every day bc you never know when you'll run into your destiny
  • something like - dress as if you'll run into your worse enemy
  • "God made you in his imagine...dress it up right!"
  • "You betta work!"
  • "Strike a pose like the pros!"
  • something like - first impressions are your only impressions
  • from my white friend - "If you were the only black young lady I saw in life, you have me in awe"
I can't help but make sure I'm decent and above everyday. Even when I'm bumming around the house, my bummy clothes are clean an not raggidy. I learned that from all the false fire alarms my apt building was having a few years ago. You don't have time to make sure you're cute when the sirens sound. :look:

P.S. Looking good makes you feel good. Ever have one of those moments you walk past the mirror and have you look at yourself again like, "Damn, you look good!"

I think that to care care of my hair has a good impact on the rest of my body and I'm very happy of that .

I appreciate this thread a lot. I think this country as a whole downplays femininity and beauty. Which is why it is so easy for us to go out of the house in no makeup, nondescript hair, sneakers, workout clothes as fashion, not because we are going to work out. Or reserve our best outfits for special occasions. Of course, when I say 'us' I really mean 'me', aaaggh! Somewhere, deep inside, my inner femme fatale is desperately trying to claw her way out. And she started with the hair, so I guess the rest will follow :yep:

It will. I throw out most of my old clothes and bought new more feminine clothes that looks fab. The problem was I wouldn't wear them. It was so out of my comfort zone. I decide that I wanted to embrace the change in me instead of being scared of it. I cut a bang and started doing my hair everyday. That made it easyer for me to start wearing my new clothes and everything else did fall in to place.

I wish that I could do my hair everyday. But sometimes I just don't feel like it, especially during PMS time. I do feel so much better when my hair is done. It is like you have that extra bounce in your step. I just can't find it in myself to do my hair everyday. Sometimes all I can do it grab for my claw clip, especially when it is time for a touchup or I need a wash.

DH told me to resign the yoga pants to yoga only
he loves the girly version of Kei:grin:

What do you mean when you say do your hair every day? I do my hair every day I mean I don't walk out the house with my hair like when I wake up. Not sure what you mean. I may wear a bun but I do it every day.

Hee Hee-I was just about to ask this!

Somebody break it down for us, 'cause I'm reading this thinking what do you do when you don't do your hair.

I mean it look like I take the time to do something with my hair. I would leave a bun in my hair for a week straight after washing. I would walk around like I didn't even try to make sure my hair look done. It was a puffy mess in a bun.

Yes it's been a while:yep:.

I don't style daily so I don't have anything to add. Gurl, I would have ordered BT the very same day:drunk:.

You know doing your hair like you do when are getting all dressed up or going out on the town.

Yeah I "do" my hair so I can look good for work our whatever, which for me most times is just putting it up and not spending too much time on it. But when I "DO" my hair I concentrate more on styling. I break out the Carusos and strategically place them so my hair will be banging and swanging when I leave out of the door. That takes way more time and thought than other times.

I just can't "DO" my hair everyday. It is easier for me to pull it all back most times, besides the fact that it keeps my hair from rubbing on things. I really don't always have time to take those extra minutes in the morning to do it up.

This is what I took it to mean as well. I wish I could do my hair up really pretty every day like that.

This is what I looked like at my last job. I honestly didn't care. I looked a HAM. I am telling myself that I won't let that happen to me at my new job. I work in a nicer area--and I never know who I may see or where I may end up.

LOL this is how I feel right now. My job is laying us all off on June 27th so you know I don't give a dern. One of my friends called me in the middle of the day talking about meeting them right after work at a wine bar for drinks. LOL I just can't hang with them these days, because I just don't put a lot into my hair for work right now. I would have walked in there and they would be like

These days, DOING my hair is the time I take twice a week to shampoo and condition. I do keep that up, but once its dry, my stuff goes up in a clip and there is nothing remotely fancy about it.

Like you, I will work it out on my next job. I am using this time to bum out.

But like SQ mentioned, when you only "do" your hair for work and you bust up in there after you take the time and "DO" you hair, people get nice and always got comments - "your hair look so nice" "you should wear your hair like like more often" blah blah blah LOL
