Is it difficult to do dreadlocks on Asian (Korean, Chinese, etc) hair?
Considering that their hair is so straight.................

I would assume, but maybe someone else can chime in.

There is an afro perm they can use first that looks like it would make it easier to start locs.

Not at all! My best friend is half Hawaiian and Mexican (I know…interesting combo) but he has AMAZING dreads. He does have different textures in his hair ranging from 2A to 4B (polynesian hair can be a bit similar to african american hair in some regards) but I know he's pretty hardcore about this site: http://www.dreadlockssite.com Hope this helps you.

From my experience Asian hair is pretty coarse so it tends to do better when locing compared to other textures. I know some that relied on the afro perms to loc and others that did theirs on untreated hair. Both turned out surprisingly well. Each head is different though so mileage may vary.
