Does your hood hair dryer cause the power to go out?? Mine does

I have a Gold 'N Hot hood dryer (ionic standing kind) & it sporadically causes the power in my room to go out, or the power in the whole house to blink off momentarily. This is pretty frustrating. Unplugging every other piece of electronic equipment in the room helps, but it still happens. I have to flip the breaker switch to fix it!!! Ugh!!!

Does anyone else have this problem with your hood dryer???

I have a Hot Tools that is ~6 or 7 years old and it causes the power to go out, but only if someone tries to use the microwave while I'm drying my hair.

Ok...I was wondering if it was my house our something. It's so annoying. I wonder if this happens with the Pibbs??

When used in certain outlets in my house the power will go out. I now plug my dryer into the same outlet as my laundry dryer. It is on an individual circuit so now the power stays on!

I had this problem. Turned out the wire to the circuit breaker for my master bedroom was jacked up. The electrician cut the messed up wire and reinstalled it and now it has been smooth sailing every since. Before having it repaired, I would turn off the light and tv in order to not cause a fuse to blow .

Take off the cover to your circuit breaker box (or have a electrician do it) to see how the wiring looks for the breaker to the room where you are having the problem.

Mine did too, until I started plugging it into an 8 outlet surge protector!

I use a surge protector and I make sure to cut the power off on any other heavy appliances plugged into the surge protector like the space heater or fan.

I have a stand up dryer too. My power goes out too only in the room I use it in (my bedroom). Power is fine everywhere else in the house. I just have to remember to turn off the electric fireplace when I use the dryer.

You have to move it to another room, I have that same problem in the bedroom but not in the greatroom and kitchen because those room we design for heavy duty equipment.

I think I am going to try this next time because having to stop in the middle of drying my hair is really frustrating. I've been using my hood dryer in the bedroom.

It seems like the surge protector worked for several people! I need to get one, so I can resume using the dryer in my room. It's much more comfortable where I can read at my desk or watch TV. That was the whole point of me getting a standing dryer.

This always happens with me I learned to turn everything else off in rooms I'm not in as well as the one that I'm using the dryer in. I only keep the tv on to watch n the dryer. All lights go off lol

I just wanted to update! I bought the surge protector, as suggested & it worked wonderfully. I was able to use the hood dryer in my bedroom for over an hour with no power outages! Thanks to everyone for your suggestions.

The SP was $8 at Target

I thought it was just my house! I was drying my hair and "poof!" all the electricity went out. I had to go out and trip the circuit breaker! I just use a different outlet, but my DH still gives me hard time." Oh no kids, there goes your mom with her dryer! Don't play with your WII,PS2, or go out on the computer!" Funny...

My Blowdryer does this if I have my little heater plugged in on the same circuit.

I have to turn the heater off or plug it into another side of the room.

This happens for me, too. I think the dryer trips the circuit, so I have to go to an area of the house that's on a different circuit. VERY annoying!
