to convince you it is well lubricated? (thanks for this word, patient1!!)

I use SheaButter Moisturizing Leave In Conditioner and while it has its fair share of butters in it, I still don't think it's well lubricated. I remember the days of using straight grease (Posners) and my mother not being satisfied unless you touched my hair and had enough grease on it to rub down your body. I think her mindset has carried on to me.

no lawd

i hate for my hair to have any products in it usually because they all feel greasy to me. the only time i dont hair is when i have my hair up in a bun.

Yup, lol. I'm still trying to get out of that mentality, but I can't! My hair can be sooo moisturized, but if it doesn't feel like it, I'm not satisfied.

With my down hair less is better for me. There is nothing worse than a greasy wrap (IMO). But for my protective styled no heat hair:lol:. My hair be greasier than a mug!!! I have to make sure it is extra moisturized!

Yeah I agree with Mizanimami
When my hair is down I like it to be light and flowing but since I wear my hair up 99% of the time (it's only down when I flatiron once every month or 2 to check length) then my hair is greasy as ever but that's the only way I can tell it's moisturized other than that it feels really dry to me.
Hey we grew up with that mentality and I ain't trying to get away from it so I'll continue to BE GREASY!!!!!

I never liked greasy hair. I know my hair is moisturized when I can move it and it goes back to it's original place.

I always have my hair in protectives styles ie box braids. So I like to feel my hair to tell if it is moistuized. If it feels greasy I'm happy lol. It is up majority of the time anyway so I don't have to worry about messing up my clothes.

Hello my name is Trimbride and I am a greasemonkey.....

I can't help but put tons of moisturizer in my hair. I swear I go through an entire bottle in about 2 weeks. I also put like three different things in my hair. Dime size my behind. It also seems like my hair just drinks it up because the next day I need more.

I don't feel moisturized until every single strand has some type of product on it. I typically use my sulfur oil on my scalp, ORS serum on my scalp, S-Curl on my new growth, and Silk elements moisturizer on my strands.

I am trying to cut back but I don't want to cut back too much and dry my hair out... I never wear my hair down so I dunno how it will affect me when I wear it out.

One day I will find the perfect balance...At least I don't use Pink lotion & blue majic anymore:look:

I like my hair to be touchable. Say you're with a guy and he wants to run his fingers through my hair only to come up with enough lub to un-ash up his whole body and fry a 10-piece......then that's a problem.

It's also embarrasing and messy for me. It messes up the back of chairs and pillows.

I'm now trying to find something moisturizing and lubricating enouch to keep my natural 4b hair soft. Any suggestions?

Hey Bubln...

It's funny but my mother and I just had this same conversation this morning. She was telling me to use less product and that when i was young with natural hair, she would lightly grease my hair and braid it. Afterwards, she'd just let it out and it would be very bouncy. She said that I could do the very same texturized...in other words, stop looking like a grease ball.

Looking at your hair, it doesnt look like it needs to be greasy at all. Just try a lesser amount of butter/grease for about a week and see how your hair responds.

I use to have the greasy pillow issue. When me and my husband first got together I ruined a couple of his pillows. Luckily he didn't hold it against me. :D

Now I use black satin pillowcases. I also use less product...not much less but less

When its down I use very little product - ususally a heat protectant lotion and a bit of glossing polish. However, when I wear it up (99.999% of the time) I'm putting globs of castor and coconut de creme oil in it.

OT- Why do I keep wanting to reach inside the monitor just touch Pettykinks thick gorgeous avatar hair?

I add more moisturizer when my hair is up.

When it is down I like little product at all.

Ewww  My hair is fine and it gets weighed down easily. For me to be convinced that my hair is moisturized enough it needs to be springy and the coils have to feel smooth/silky. I like touching my hair and I'll be darned if I have to wipe my hands off afterwards.
I can't stand when someone walks past me smelling like they greased themselves head to toe with Crown Royal or something. Ugh!

So this is a way to tell you're well lubed (hairwise, that is)

i've always hated having greasy hair (even before i learned hair care). i used to put up with it. now i look so stuff that makes my hair feel wet not greasy and doesn't dry too quickly.

LOL, I remember when I was in 2nd grade, my teacher called my mom because my homework papers would always be covered in grease spots. They were so bad that she couldn't read my papers. My mom still didn't stop greasing my hair.

Yeah. If it was greasy, it would stay in the place I put it at. For example, if I pulled a few strands of my hair up, it would stay sticking up a la Don King.

Mine does not have to feel that way for me, but I notice less breakage and easier combing when my hair is greasy. I prefer it not to be greasy, though.
