I'm currently transitioning and I've found that in some sections I have straight bits in my new growth.
So the line of demarcation is normal 4a then I have an almost completely straight section and then back to 4a at the root.
I tried to take a picture of it (ignore the struggle bantu knot, was my first time trying it and I'm style challenged) hopefully you will see what I mean.
Just wondered if I was alone in this

No mam my 4b hair isnt straight anywhere. It appears that some of your curls are just more elongated than others
