Does too much moisturizing cause cornrow fuzz?

I have had cornrows for almost a week now and love um. However, I'm starting to worry if my three or four time a day braid spraying routine will cause fuzz or loosening of my natural hair from the extensions. Should I cut down my use of BRX spray?

Yeah spraying that often will definitley cause your braids to loosen and frizz, just do it 2 times a day instead of 4 and make sure you tie your hair down with a scarf to help lay down the frizz after spriting your braids.

Just wanted to chime in. I spray in the morning, and at night I spray heavily and then put worlds of curls on the rows, pressing it in. Then put a scarf on at night. My hair is moisturized for the day when I wake up. But the key to stopping frizz is a scarf at night.

hmmmmmmmmm iam the conrow MALE KING and iam tellin u guys dont buy no braid spray none of em are good iam sorry.....ive had cornrows for 1 year and i dont do em anymore cause of tention but what u should try is OLIVE OIL/WATER in a spray bottle add a few drops of ur fav oil with some water and spray only before u go bed and cover and thats all u need.

Olive oil and water? But if oil and water do not mix, how does this help? What does it do?

I've found that my cornrows only frizz if I don't cover them properly when I sleep. I do them every Sunday and oil my scalp three days in a row.

I've found that using oil sprays will cause more frizz than putting oil on the scalp between the cornrows.

I just used the BRX braid spray 2x a day and tyed my hair down with a scarf and used aphogee oil sheen in the morning and was good to go

The water makes the hair moist, and the oil hold or locks in the moisture. It's the same premise of using s-curl and wet/damp hair vs spraying it on dry hair. In large part water is the best moisturizer, but it does evaporate, and oil oil impedes this process.

Correct me if I'm wrong y'all--

But I think what they are saying is that water adds moisture to the hair. Oil doesn't. Oil is a lubricant not a moisturizer. The oil just seals in the moisture from the water. The water eventually evaporates and you'll need to put more water on the hair.

But if the water evaporates leaving the oil behind, why not just use the oil without the water?

At least for me the oil is like a natural humectant. A humectant draws moisture in. But the moisture has to come from somewhere. in this case it comes from the water. The olive oil draws the moisture of the water into the hair. If I were to apply just oil and no water to my hair, there is no moisture (water) to begin with, even though the hair is slick from the oil. I hope this helps. Also here is a link to a site that explains how certain oils can act as natural humectants, reataining moisture to hair, or skin.
