Does the protein part of Aphogee 2-step smell stinky?

I want to try it b/c people rave about it, but I remember someone getting some kind of Aphogee treatment that smelled like sewage! Please tell me what I bought doesn't smell like that...cuz if it does, I'm taking it back for a refund.

ALSO, what results have you gotten from Aphogee 2-step?

Thanks!

I can't describe it....just experience the stench for yourself :giggle: if you need the protein; it's a great product....so don't return it cuz of the smell :imo:

Hey DE...

I wouldn't go as far as "sewage"....its a little stinky but it is tolerable as the scent dissipates once it hardens in your hair...

I really like it...I thought it would be too strong for my hair but I use it a week before relaxing and it has definitely paid off over time....however, I don't use the Aphogee moisturizer....now in this case...your Mizani Moisturefuse would be PERFECT to use after rinsing this out..

I also placed it in a spray bottle and it can get a little sticky

It stops breakage immediately but yes it does smell like funky feet. That shouldn't be a reason to take it back because the benefits outweigh the smell. Plus it goes away after you rinse and apply the second cond.

yeah, it smells rotten but it's bearable-- some Indian oils are much worse imo. also, wear gloves if you have cuts on your hands otherwise it'll sting like hell. I have eczema and should've been smarter than to do it without gloves.

For me it helped my limp hair by springing my curls up. So overall it was a good experience

The results that I've had from it is worth putting up with the smell, it's not like it lingers in the hair.

I agree with the ladies 100%...it stinks to high heaven, but it does dissipate as it dries in your hair. I use it 1 week before every relaxer, also, and I can definately tell the difference. You get use to the smell, after the third time, I didn't even notice it (although my husband and children notice it every single time I use it) But, I don't think that you should take it back because it is wonderful.

How does this work out for you? I am too scared to use any other condish after the 2 step protein treatment because I have heard horror stories about peoples hair being super hard and brittle after doing the protein treatment WITHOUT using the balancing moisturizer. Please share.

yes, that men's room perfume really stinks. but the results are really worth it. i can tolerate it since i didn't have any breakage when my stylist used it regularly. ♥

I've been using Aphogee 2 step for about two years now. I use it a week before a relaxer and six weeks after my relaxer. I don't pay attention to the smell anymore. It's a different smell, but it's not like a I'm about to fall out and die smell. I put mine in a spray bottle also because it's messy and it helps to cut down on product waste. I don't use the balancing moisturizer because its crappy in my opinion. I have used everything from Humecto to Silk Elements for my dc. You can choose whatever dc you like just make sure its extremely moisturizing.

As ladies have already said, yes, it does stink pretty bad. And depending on where you apply it (for example, in a little bathroom like I did) your bathroom will temporarily smell like it...but the benefits it provides if your hair is extremely damaged or breaking is far greater than a funky smell.

My hair isn't extremely damaged, and I am really afraid of overload based on what some people said. I am transitioning, a few days short of 10 months post, and I am not sure I need all that. Maybe I'll just stick to my Affirm 5 in 1 and Giovanni for protein.

I just don't like it...never have.

Yes - your hair will be super hard and brittle if you DON'T use a moisturizing conditioner after using the 2 step. It does not matter what type of MC is used as long as one is used and that it is actually a moisturizing deep conditioner not just a "rinse-out" conditioner.

Aphogee would like for consumers to use their whole line as it is revenue...the balancing moisturizer may work for some but it is a no-go for me...
