I'm sorry about how ignorant people can be. I was wondering however; who in the world is taking the picture???

Unfortunately we live in a world were beauty is defined in unrealistic physical characteristics. It does hurt and I'm very sorry that you had to deal with such ignorance. But you look at it this way love, you are much more beautiful than those girls are and any person that judges you for your physical appearance. They lack what is truly important; understanding and acceptance of themselves and all human beings. People do things such as they did because they are not happy with themselves so they must do what will pleased everyone else (which is always something low and immoral) for acceptance. I understand because I too had to deal with such ignorance with folks. But you can't let it stop you from being you. It's the way the Lord made you, and was happy with how He made you. With how He made all of us...whether black, white, asian, latin, etc.
Those girls will learn and that is all that you can hope for, for them to one day have a change of heart, but you don't let their ignorance win you over by fighting your way back with arguing, because YOU lose if you do. Fight back by keeping your head high and moving forward and remaining in your beauty.

You made the right choice by ridding them, because real friends accept you as you are and never do intentional things to hurt you.

Keep you head high love (smile)
Much love

This has never happened to me. I was always the quiet type that didn't divulge too much personal information, even with some of my close friends. I'm on a short fuse so there are some lucky people out there.

Uh, FRIENDS RESPECT! They can joke, but it's up to YOU to set the BOUNDARIES! You might have to pull out a "can of whoop-arse" just to get those boundaries established, after that, you can confidently type that the Asian and the white chick are still your friends, but we be havin an understanding 'bout my hurr now!

"****** GIT CHO MF'in HANDZ OUT MY HURR!"

my teammates used to do stuff like this every day...
I used to kirk on my teammates all the time for things like this... I was natural and the only black girl on my gymnastics team...
while I am still good friends with the lovely korean girl in this pic, me and another ex-teammate (white chick) were talking about this about 5 mins ago and I ended up hangin up on this girl cuz I brought up my hair, then she brought up these things they used to do to me... ie:

  • put skittles and other small candies in it
  • splash water on me or push me in the pool right after pressing it
  • putting chalk in it (gymnasts use chalk to decrease slipping)
  • calling me a wet dog...
  • hiding my scarves (i ended up just stopping my scarf use)
and she was like that was soooo funny, is your hair still like that or did you fix it yet... i was like B1t6h!!!! I know you didn't just say "fix"
I hung up the phone... i will not be looking at white folks in the eye for a few days... growl...

You're hair looks great in this pic!!!!

Sorry to tell you, whether you are still cool with them or not, these people are not your friends (at the least they don't consider you their friend--friends don't act like that). They sound like frenemies: enemies that pretend to be friends.

It sounds like they must not know too many black people and they treat you as a fun "novelty" to get kicks out of messing with.
Yep, I could just imagine them laughing about things behind the other peoson's (the friend's) back.

I've never had friends like that. If I did that would really hurt my feelings and I probably wouldn't be able to keep the friendship up.

Everything you said sounds just like me.

They called you a "wet dog"? Are you sure they weren't talking about themselves? People with straight, stringy hair are the only ones who smell like wet dogs.

The only people who made fun of my hair back in the day were the black girls. They told me my hair was a dusty, chewed up, and I needed a dark and lovely super perm plus. Fast forward a decade and look who still has a headful of hair on her head and doesn't have to hide behind a weave.

That's just jealousy, that's what I say. Every time I came to school with my huge afro puff this one girl would say eww do something to your hair, I would *itch you just mad cuz you don't have no hair. We have versatility to our have while they was they had our hair.

woooooooooo! that is some **** that would have me flipping out all ghetto. i don't play that ignorant hair ****. or any ignorant **** for that matter.

i once had a boy ask my why are my lips two different colors? and any are my hand and feet brown and white like a white persons on the bottom. um...... B!tch. I DON'T KNOW. ASK THE GOOD LORD THAT MADE US ALL DIFFERENT. He had the nerve to ask me out after that----eww. No.

I have to admit when I first saw the pic you posted, I laughed. However, I wasn't laughing at you; I was laughing at the look on the girl's face. It was as if she was a newborn who is seeing the world for the first time ... a newborn who puts a toy in its mouth because it doesn't know any better.

Anyway, I especially agree with the bolded. I'm sorry you had to experience that. You aren't alone though; many of us have dealt with similar ignorance as well.

 Hmphf. Next time y'all go somewhere hot and sunny, hide all their sunscreen and lock them outdoors. See who's laughing then.

See this is why I've gotta stay off LHCF. Y'all have me LOL and ROFL at work when I should be ... well working.:lachen:This is TOO funny, Mwedzi!

This has GOT to be one of the most IGNORANT things I have ever seen. It really wouldn't have been that bad if I just read your commentary but the PICTURE with the Korean girl and that DEVILISH smile on her face as she disrespects you! I am SO annoyed now. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I have always had to deal with others not UNDERSTANDING my hair (When I was relaxed my hair was very long and my white classmates told me they ASSUMED it wasn't my hair because they didn't think black people could grow long hair and now that i'm natural I get stares and they attempt to touch my hair). But this TAKES THE CAKE! That picture annoyed me

OP, doesn't looking at that "girl's" face make you want to knock her out? Because the more I stared at her giant grin, the more I wanted to put a fist through it.

I'm sorry you have to deal with this. As far as I can see, they only wish they could be as great as you, hence the foolishness.
