Does Shrinkage Equal Moisture Retention

After my oil laden dc today my hair shrunk up like never before, does that mean I'm retaining moisture? Is shrinkage a good thing pertaining to the health of ones hair?

I have never connected the two. I don't think so but I am not the chemist expert.

Maybe it is because you only used oil instead of other products that may help lessen the shrinkage. I am not sure.
