I've had breakage and dry scalp resently so I figure i should DC w/ Queen Helene Cholesterol with added keatin protein and my head is tingling almost burning:confused: . I have also used Elasta QP H-Two leave- in moisture sealing conditioner which has silk proteins which I stopped using because my head would tingle/burn until I washed my hair again. I wonder if its the protein thats making my head tingle and if its a good or bad thing. I don't know whats going on:ohwell: . I am a newbie looking for a regime and I don't know whats good or bad? Can protein burn?

I used a protein reconstructor recently and some got on the side of my face. It was burning. I was like what the heck:perplexed I guess protein does burn. I'm not sure if all do, cuz I only used it once

I have several different products with protein in them and I have never experienced any burning or tingling. I don't think it's normal for protein to burn you. Now, alkaline based products can burn. So if you're using some type of protein product that has an alkaline-based ingredient (pH higher than 7), then you could probably experience burning because our hair is naturally acidic and the product could be upsetting that balance too much. Thus, it's good to try to use protein products that will also restore your hair's normal acidic pH. For instance, JOICO K-Pak Reconstruct Leave-In Protectant has hydrolyzed keratin but the pH is acidic. The CHI Infra Shampoo and Treatment have hydrolyzed silk, wheat, and hair keratin proteins but also have an acidic pH.

I agree you should not be burning from a protein conditioner unless you've been scratching alot and your skin is broken. If it burning just from contact, I would say you may have a sensitivity to something in it and should try a different conditioner.
